Most mk2 s12's didnt even have the door card light function, They were merely there as reflectors

My s12 must be a "posh one" then  . Because the lights in my door cards do work :D . Or at least they did the last time I put a battery on her ;) .

Ian.

my door cards have lights too, they worked up untill a few weeks ago, i know they have +12v coz i have little flashing LEDs in the top of the cards to look like alarm (previous owner put them on) and they still work, so i just gotta trace a break somewhere.

old-and-rusty 17-11-2007 13:23

Good luck finding the break. Personally, I would rather change a gearbox than fault find electrics  . Wiring can be a real nightmare, I hate electrics....LOL.....
I`m pretty sure that the wires leading to the door card lights have a conduit though, so the break might be further back in the system.
S13eater are your lights working now ? We must have jinxed them, with talikng about them :p ...LOL...

Ian.

well seeing as none of the lights come on, it must be quite and early break, like beween both pin switchs and where it branches of to both doors the dash and the interior light.

i enjoy fault finding, tis a challenge tbh :D

old-and-rusty 17-11-2007 14:03

Tbh, I used to enjoy fiddling with the electrics on older cars, like my old Mk2 Escort. But more advanced motors seem to be a lot less accessible, talk about wiring spaghetti...LOL...
Hope you manage to sort it out :D .

Ian.

my car before this was a mk2 escort, was fun tbh, very simple with only 7 fuses for the whole car :D

plus relays for the spotlights and split charger (had a second Batt in the boot)

That brings back memories...LOL....
My Escort was the first car I bought at 18 (19 years ago  ). Really easy to work on the electrics, with the fuse box being under the bonnet :D .
Mine was the estate version (cos I used to do mobile disco`s back then). I put a full x-pack body kit on her, handbuilt a full wooden dash and centre console, put in RS style black leather-look racing buckets, resprayed her black and diamond white and jacked up the back leaf springs to fit 12 inch wide tyres and capri ghia alloys on the front....LOL...
She handled like a snake in the wet...LOL.... but I thought it was cool at the time ;) .
I will have to see if I`ve got any photos knocking about.
I did that much work on her, that after 4 years I sold her for the same price that I bought her for. Happy days...LOL....
Regards,
Ian.

lol, i had recaros in mine, and a comfy cortina rear seat sqeezed in, gave a bit more room for speakers in the back shelf with the seats being taller :D mine was a mobile disco hahahahhaahh, 5 speed box, that engine with the twin 45 webbers on and it was a 1600cc pinto with a rare 1300cc head with big valves (near the size of the 2ltr ones) on it, this bumped up the compression to 11:1, a piper rally cam allowed it to revved happily to 9500RPM sounded nice, but it became to much work to keep on the road, and shattered 2 RS2000 diffs, then i was offered the silvia.
