that looks like a modified mk2 grille with mk1 side lights, i have the mk1 grille, and its like honeycomb effect.

nedge2k 20-09-2009 13:21

it is, yeah. always preferred that style to the honeycomb, looks more 80's :D

as for the lights, if you've got a mk2 grille and sidelights, i'll do you a straight swap if you want?

You're on! PM'd.
I wondered if they damaged the underseal or something when it was fitted ?

nedge2k 20-09-2009 19:32

tbh the underseal *looked* ok but as you can see from the pic, there's some black spray over the area - mebbe an attempt to cover up a problem. either way, im just glad the other side is solid. my mate is back off hols now so we should be able to weld that up and the back of the sills soon - just hope it's only the back of the sills or the skirts are gonna have to come off :(

chris1986 30-09-2009 12:34

hi guys

i was wondering how to get the rear subframe and the rear arms bushings out

how do you guys do it?

greetings, chris

lmrdave 01-10-2009 07:06

Burn them out :D

s13eater 01-10-2009 09:31

if your having polly bushes, then leave the collar in.

lmrdave 26-11-2009 12:48

Rear Trailing Arm Bushes for the S12 - Superflex part number SPF0561 on there own or SPF0561K should be a kit, but leave the original collars in.
These appear to be from a 280ZX.

Credit to Shaun and Chris the chap from Superflex.

Ps Shaun your PM was full yesterday!

I also found a cheaper option (just under £40 ) for front control arms (wishbone bushes), I think S13 ones will fit, and I've ordered a set of powerflex ones through Driftworks, unfortunately Powerflex has just has a major fire at their factory so I have no idea when or if I will get the bushes and see if they fit! DOh!

Thought I best update:-

Front control arm bushes, S13 do fit, but make sure you get a 31.6mm (I think it's .6) ones rather than the 34mm ones, or it won't fit.

Front bush replacements

Hi I've read the postings about replacing bushes with superflex ones, it's all become a little too confusing and some comments are contradicting others. Can someone please clarify which bushes I should be buying for the front only, lets forget about the back for now, just the front end so we don't confuse things.

Ok for starters which of these is right for the front trailing arms SPF1483K or SPF1009K?

I also want to replace all the bushes on the front are these numbers correct

2 x SPF 1485/25K front and rear anti roll bar to body bushes (4) 25mm
4 x SPF 0927 front tie rod bush (strut bar)
8 x SPF 2092B front anti roll bar link pin bushes 10mm
8 x SPF 0903 rear anti roll bar link pin bushes 8mm

is that everything are there anymore bushes for the front

Superflex have given me a price of £216.00 inc vat and free postage for these bits inc SPF 1483K but I want to check they are defo right before I order and mess everyone around.

Neither going by their websites description, I'm sure I measured mine (as I've have a mix of S12 and S13 arms and learnt the hard way there were two sizes of bushes).
S12's and early S13's are stepped to 31.6(ish)mm, later S13 are 34(ish)mm.

Edit: Just checked powerflex and they list:

31.6mm
and
35mm

So I wasn't far wrong according to them. I have fitted powerflex bushes to the front arms of an S12 (and still have them sat in the garage).

Powerflex / Superflex

Great so I am really not sure what to buy for the front, are all the other parts correct, how can it be that there is so much confusion over this.

If you were replacing all the front end rubbers what would you do?

Are the other parts I've re posted from the original posting correct and if not why haven't they been removed from the thread??

s13eater 29-01-2013 09:58

the part numbers should be right mate, i did the bushes, then let richard kimbely have the numbers to do his bushes.

Bushes

Good stuff. I've ordered them from superflex excluding the front trailing arm ones just in case they are wrong.

I've also spotted on ebay the nylon white ones for the rear sub frame I got them for £30.00 the set free postage just search silvia S12 bush. Also on ebay track rod ends for £2.99 each !! plus postage bit cheaper than eurocarparts £30.00 + vat. There are only a couple left so worth buying to keep I think.

lmrdave 30-01-2013 08:18

I have a pair of front wishbones with new powerflex bushes fitted, thats what I did.

They have never been on the car. I was going to go back to running S12 arms, but realised I'd gone away from them for a reason. so not much use to me, unless my new S13 arms turn out to be early ones.

S12 arms

Why have you gone away from S12 arms?? How much do you want for them?

I have fitted all the front bushes excluding the arms and can confirm they all fit perfectly they are the part numbers from the list but I will post the exact new numbers from the packets as they are slightly different from the original post on this thread.

!!!!!! A word of caution the tie rod arms did not come with the metal sleeve insert and I had to get them made by a local engineering firm, Clifton Engineering, Coopies Lane Industrial Estate, Morpeth, Northumberland. They charged me £20 for the two !! The original ones were rotten and split hence the steering issues I was having which is now cured. Even the drop link bolts were rotten and probably original 24 years old!! I just bought some matched bolts for £2 and everything is spot on as I got the tracking laser set too by Kwik Fit £31.95 although they didn't have the settings for an S12 they just set at 0 parallel
