Looks like they have done a good job.
Are you going to helecoil the manifold studs and rocker shaft retaining bolts?

Nissan really did fit those valve heads tight together.

The two studs missing have been Helicoiled by myself already. The rocker ones are fine as I checked them whilst it was stripped. Had to use a drill with a wire attachment in the ports to remove the carbon and muck!

Whilst its off mate i would strongly suggest u force the old studs out so the whole lot are freshly helicoiled. I left one in out the 6 that was solid and within 3 weeks it fell out:mad: since the lot have been done none of then nuts have budged so im blow free:cool:

Yeh I'm inclined to agree. I'll do the other One whilst its off and the weather is *hitey! :D

After the rain had stopped I managed to put the head, manifold back on a do some of the little fiddly bits. Heres a few pics

H'mmmmmm got my New turbo today. Its a standard Turbo technics recon unit which I got cheap from an old post on Zxoc . It actually turned out to be for a Cherry Turbo but lucky for me they are the same units. I had to turn around the housings and change over the actuator to fit.

Update

Well there was one other difference found with the Turbo which I was stumped on. The Oil thread line at the top of the Turbo was bigger than the standard thread size. I could Not understand it as the Cherry Turbo oil inlet size is the SAME as the Silvia one. Basically on the Silvia Oil line (standard) it has different size nuts at either end. It actually turned out to be the larger size so I buchered Two standard pipes and put on the larger nut and flared the end. Its all back together now and running but I have ordered a braided hose from Ebay as there only £20!. Its been time consuming as I've been setting it up once warm (ie tappets, timing and flushing out the oil/coolant and replacing it with New stuff). I've also sprayed the radiator to make it more presentable as its a Recon and paint was flaking off. The body needs a good T cut and polish ..Pics to follow...

It should turn into a really nice reliable s12 (is there such a thing? )

Are you keeping it auto and is this to eventually replace your grey s12?

northerner 15-06-2006 21:01

I think it will be the wifes baby but I will occasionally have it (if you know what I mean) :p

Update

Well its been a while but I finally got the beast down to North London Vosa Vic station were it passed today. It needed this check as the car was a cat c insurance right-off as someone had smashed the two N/S windows ! Cost me £36 for some technician to check the chassis number buts its done now any road. The car Ran sweet the 60 mile round trip. It amazed me how quiet and smooth a standard Auto is! Nothing like my modded Manual. I've got rid of flakey Silvia wheels and have replaced them with some 15" Primera which smarten it up. Next on my list is to sort the corrosion on the front wings and a small hole in the F/O/S sill.
