Pistonfreak 25-02-2007 22:08

Hey I'm getting a set sent to Australia.
The product looks to be good quality glasswork.(I've seen worse at shops for sale)
You guy's have to have some trust for a change.

s13eater 25-02-2007 22:11

your front end looks sweet mate, where did you get it made.

Pistonfreak 25-02-2007 23:12

The front bar is made by me:)
A few S12's in Sydney have them now
I also do the vented FJ power bulges too

rpettafor 25-02-2007 23:40

i definately want a set, but would def feel muich more at ease if a couple of us went to collect them:) (no offence chester, but i have been robbed of money by polish people before - once bitten, you know how it is ;) - its a shame a few people tarnish the names of the good folk)

Pistonfreak 25-02-2007 23:55

Wow Talk about painting everyone with the same brush

s13eater 25-02-2007 23:59

i just want to go as an excuse for a run out and collect some duty free:D .

ChEsTeR 26-02-2007 00:15

S13eater. Im sory to say but there will be no duty free. U will not leave the EU. And no passport is needed. There is no problem with u guys to pick them up. It would be much easer for me.

s13eater 26-02-2007 08:12

mate, buying wine and beer from france on the way back is a lot cheaper than our prices.:)

30psi 26-02-2007 10:56

You still need a passport as well to cross on to mainland Europe.

ChEsTeR 26-02-2007 11:34

I didn't. I flew from warsow-gatwick-shanoon and back and no passport was needed.

30psi 26-02-2007 11:38

I just used a passport to get to France and back this weekend though.

EDIT - Europeans have ID cards, which mean YOU don't need one, but WE don't have official ID cards.

We're a few years behind at the moment...

Maciej,

can you post a link to an online map to where you are, I am curently thinking about sending a boy over from my company in sweden to possibly meet you half way to the ferry port, I might even send him all the way to warsaw, then maybe he could collect the kits for sweden and norway, and if the english guys would feel more comfortable dealing with me in sweden, I can bring all the kits back here and then ship them/bring them to england or the English guys can come over and collect them.

I'll be taking a couple of vans to the uk in april-june and can bring the kits then...

Just an idea I had....

Regards,

Mike aka Conkers.

ps... edited in...

I just found this:

https://www.escrow.com/index.asp

It is a third party that holds the funds until the goods have been received and accepted. Maybe this is an option for anyone who is worried about sending money before seeing the goods.

??

ChEsTeR 26-02-2007 13:29

www.map24.co.uk
In the serch window type"fabryczna lomianki poland" It will show u my street.I have no problem in taking the kit for the UK guys. Would be grate and save lots of time.

ChEsTeR 26-02-2007 13:35

We can do it threw this escrow site No problem.

kamikazeee 26-02-2007 17:34

Hi,
I am building a Nissan Silvia Race Car, and I would need 4-5 sets of body kit. The price you give is just fine.:)
I have a frined in Poland who would be able to transport them to me, in Hungary, Europe.:)
Could you please give me a contact number, so that he can contact you about details. (he speaks Polish!)
Thank you,
Best regards

Conkers 27-02-2007 07:31

Obviously no interest from the UK for me to collect all the kits in one hit and stage them here in sweden....

I got an email from Maciej, he is happy for me to send the shipping and packaging costs and then pay the balance when the kit arrives.
So I will not bother sending my boy down there.

Give people a chance to see your post, most people are at work all day and dont get a chance to read the forum till they get home at night.

Conkers 27-02-2007 11:59

I posted the offer yesterday at (GMT/UTC) 1.30pm ish.... and rebuked the offer at 7.30am this morning. Anyone logging on at night and genuinely interested would have checked this thread last night, I did.

To be frank, the thought of 4-6 sets of body kit in my workshop and the subsequent liability of collecting them from poland/storing them/transporting them to the uk or simply waiting for peeps to come get them... leaves me wide open for a whingefest.

However, anyone who wanted to take part of my offer email me, I won't leave anyone high and dry, but please respect that I am doing this a favour and won't tolerate whinging. :-)

For the openness of this discussion:

Maciej's offer to send the kit and allow me to pay once I recieved them was only if he sends them dhl for 252 euro (to sweden). Which still leaves me sending by bank transfer 252 euro for shipping and 16 euro packaging, I respect that Maciej (Chester) doesn't want to have to shell out potentially thousands of euros on shipping without getting paid for the kits, so some mutual trust has to be established here.
I am now in the process of looking into sending one of the lads down there to collect vs having them collected by dhl and charged to my account.
Pro's and cons exist for both options, which is why I am looking into it.

I don't want any purchasers getting scammed.... and I don't want to see Maciej losing out on this either.

So either:
Option 1. send a lad to poland (cash in hand to pay for the kit/s), he will inspect and pay and bring it/them back. Either to sweden or the UK and we can arrange distribution from there.

Option 2. (which seems most likely at this point in time) I'll send Maciej payment for the kit and packaging (316 euro) via an escrow agent, (if you don't know how escrow works, have a quick read from the link above or search online for escrow), when Maciej has confirmation that the escow agent has received payment from me, he will notify me and I will arrange for dhl to collect the package. When the package arrives 3-5 days later I will inspect the body kit, and if all is a promised I will log onto escrow and confirm receipt of the goods, at which time they release the funds to Maciej. DHL will then bill me for the shipping.

This way there is minimal risk for all involved as it leaves little room for anyone to get scammed.

At the end of the day, it's a bit round the houses, but will get me a body kit for under 600 euros.

If anyone is interested in Option 1. send me an email.

As soon as my body kit is ready for shipping I'll be acting quickly as my car is booked into paint and logbook inspection by the end of march. So I have to say that if you don't contact me within 24 hours, it might be too late to jump on my bandwagon... :-)

Mike.

Conkers 28-02-2007 11:02

ok.. so here's an update.

Maciej (aka Chester) is going to bring the bodykit rom warsaw to Gdynia ferry port next tuesday evening, I am going over on the ferry from sweden to pay him for the bodykit, fuel money and of course to collect the GP widebody kit.
Just waiting fpr confirmation that all 7 parts of the kit is ready and I'll book the ferry.

Some things to think about if you are going to poland.

Passport IS required, id is insufficient.
Must have warning triangle, fire extinguisher and reflective vest in the car, mobile phones only ok with handsfree (duh) and for us scandinavians at this time of the year, studded tyres are forbidden... which means having to put the summer tyres on the car for a two day trip, 99.9% of which will be in sweden with a 1km drive around the ferry terminal in Gdynia....

I'll update the thread when I know more, or when I have the kit.

Mike.

Conkers 28-02-2007 21:53

I have now booked the ferry and my lad is going to collect my kit and possibly one more kit for Jan-petter in norway.
If all goes well we will start fiting the kit next friday march 9th, I'll get back to you all with developments as and when.

As nobody has been in contact re collecting kits for the uk, I'll remove the offer. For the record Chester seems like a totally straight trustworthy man of his word.

Till later....

Mike.

PukkaSilvia 28-02-2007 21:55

Sounds good to me. look forward to hearing how you get on with it:cool:

Conkers 01-03-2007 11:47

So now that the bodykit is looking secure and will soon be here.... time to think about the wheels, width, offset and spacers etc..
Pukkasilvia, would you mind sharing specs on your wheels because they are the perfect look for these boxy hatchbacks... they look like minilights.. but I'd like to see the specs and prices if you have them.....

We are hoping to use 16x7 rims at the moment, as we have a shed load of part worn A032's street legal race tyres... 205/50-16 currently considering volvo s40 BBS Crater wheels, as they are plentiful and strong enough for some drifting/accidental kerbing abuse... but the offset at ET43 is pretty shallow and will need something like a 50mm spacer to get the wheel out in these GP arches which look about as wide as yours...
I am thinking about a ET25 offset and maybe a narrower spacer... although we can fine tune it later.... with perhaps a fixed (bolted on and studded)spacer at 30mm and have 8 10mm flat spacers laser cut to use to fine tune the front and rear track width, wondering if maybe we can fine tune the balance of the car by altering track width in a similar way to how you set up a gokart... might be cheaper than buying fully adjustable proflex shocks, and allow us to keep the billies we have on there now!

Thoughts...??

Mike.

James H 01-03-2007 21:12

So does that mean i can have a set of you would love a set, or are these already taken, also what was the final cost?

thanks James

s13eater 01-03-2007 21:29

fantastic job mate, they look exellent.

Conkers 01-03-2007 21:56

Sweet Chester..

Hopefully one of those kits is mine, and I have been talking to jahn-petter in norway about paying for his kit and collecting that at the same time next wednesday. Looks like they stack nicely, so getting two complete sets in your V50 should not be a problem.
Any close up pictures of how the fuel filler cover attaches? Do we need to fabricate some new hinges, or does the new one attach to the existing cover??
Also interesting to know how much further out the rear wheel arches are from the standard ones, as we have been taking measurements to have wheel spacers made to get the right look on the car.
If anyone is interested, I'll post the dimensions, drawings and cad models, as well as pictures, or once I have them made I can get some prices for anyone else who wants to buy spacers to use with standard offset wheels and the gp widebody kit.

Nice work Chester,

Catch you later..

Mike.

PukkaSilvia 01-03-2007 22:33

PM senk conkers.

If i can find myself an fj20e s12 id buy one of those kits. Its good to see a pile of them there all with the same standard of finish from the mould. :)

ChEsTeR 02-03-2007 00:43

Those 3 sets are reserved. And one from the next delivery.

These are the closups of the fuel tank.

http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/9391/dscn2273gs8.jpg

Im afraid u will have to fabricate new hinges for the fuel cover.

The rear wheel arches widens about 5 cm but its har to tel because original fender is not flat and it have a smal flare about 1 cm.

Conkers 02-03-2007 08:26

Can you get the glasfiber guy to put an internal flange on the fuel filler covers, that way we can use velcro to hold it in place on the rear bodywork.
As it looks now with no mountings on the inside of the fuel cover, we will need to drill holes through for hinges, or have a hinge mount bonded on with more epoxy.
It should be sufficient with 4 right angled tabs (one on each internal edge) to this we can stick velcro on and it will stay in place. It would also be possible to fit one 90 degree channel on the leading edge, and one small tab on the opposite side for velcro closeure.

Hard to describe in words. I'll throw a sketch together and tr to post it here later....

Mike

ChEsTeR 02-03-2007 08:58

Ok i have no idea what u are talking about so a drawing would help a lot.

rpettafor 02-03-2007 10:01

will these need to be fitted over the original fenders, or as replacement?

Conkers 02-03-2007 10:30

The fronts are a direct replacement, the rear apparently fit over the existing rear quarters, but you might want to modify the inner wheel arch(lip) for tyre clearance if you are lowering and widening the car, but theoretically if you dont lower it so the wheels go up inside the standard body, then you shouldn't need to modify the original body.

I'll get a ton of how-to pictures when I fit mine and put them here or on my blog...

Its a bit of a pain that we can't upload images here directly, so I'll have to upload to my blog first and then put them here..

Here's the ack image of the fuel door with 90 degree add ons, either the glasfibre guy will have to do it, or I will have to find someone to do it.

These "tabs" could be in glas fibre or in alluminium, and simply bonded into place with some epoxy glue I quess. Then fit a bit of industrial strength velcro on the tab and on the corresponding part of the fuel filler recess in the widebody kit.
To open the fuel door just remove the thing completely, not sure how long the velcro will hold up like this, but old style wrc roof vents were held open and closed in a similar manner.
That said (quick fix) I'll fit hinges to the forward tab, and then use velcro or use the flexible nature of the thin glass fibre "90" on the trailing edge to make a simple friction or snap lock feature to hold the door closed. As I am sure that in time spilt petrol will make the velcro go mushy.

The important thing is that chester gets the glass fibre guy to bond the tabs on, so that we have some options when it comes to fitting the fuel door.

Excuse the hack image, only have autocad at home and it sucks....

If you want a larger image, go to my blog and click directly on the image, for some reason the direct link to the fullsize image will not work on this BB.
Or click on this link for fullsize image

ChEsTeR 02-03-2007 12:55

I can sak him to make adjustmest like this in the future. The guy who makes it is 280 km from me.
And the other thing u dant have to install the fuel tank lid right away. U can easy use the old one untill u can make a suitable hanging.

JackieFan 02-03-2007 14:57

Can you not just epoxy some ally or steel on? Or will that effect the panel?

Conkers 02-03-2007 22:18

Yeah, JF.. I will probably do exactly that, epoxy some ally on there... or something similar... it's not a huge problem, and there is plenty to be done before we get there.... but figured I would give feedback to help those that folow after and face the same problem

Mike

ChEsTeR 07-03-2007 23:53

Ok first two sets are away. Conkers and jahn from norway are the first. I wait to hear their opiniom and maybe some of you will change thier pesymistic attitude towards the fenders and me.
