Hey what shipping companies have you guy's been useing
I'm trying to work out the best way to have my fender kit sent Brian |
Ummm.. I am not going to be much help with regard to shipping as I sent a guy down to poland to meet Maciej (chester), pay him and pick up the kits, one for my car and one for a guy in norway.
It is not heavy though if that helps... I reckon that the entire glassfibre kit weighs about the same as the rubber bump strips we removed from the doors, wings and other panels... a pleasant surprise. Fitted the kit today, even the fuel filler cover is sorted, hinge side is done, just need to fettle the lock into submission. Everything fitted great (for a glasfibre bodykit) and after 6 hours of enjoyable fettling the kit was dummy fitted, now just to remove it, bond it in place, wait for that to cure, a bit of filler here and there, rub it down and paint it. Should be in the paint shop on monday, depends how quickly the body glue takes to set. I'll get some pictures up if I can. I have been taking detailed pictures of the fitting, and I'll try to put something together on my blog to help others who are fitting this kit. Edited in... OK... I am crazy, I have to get up in 4 hours... but I put almost all the useful pictures from todays fettling on my blog.... http://racing-green.blogspot.com/200...ebody-kit.html Or use the link at the bottom of my post, and click on: "GP (Groovy Polish) Widebody Kit" Blog posted March 9th 2007. Conkers. |
cant believe you achieved all this so quickly well done conkers
|
thats some fast work! well done.
Chester if you are ever going to stop making these can you let us all know in advance. |
More pictures on the blog now...
The car is in the paintshop and should (will) be painted by the end of the week. The only quibbles about the bodkit so far are the fuel door trimming, I need a new one that is not trimmed so hard, so that it is big enough for the aperture in the rear quarter... and the front right wing, which I think may have been pulled from the form too soon (before curing was completed) as it is tweaked and has taken longer to get fitted properly than the rest of the bodykit. That said.... every bodykit in glassfibre I have ever seen has been a nightmare to fit... so lets just say that the "tweaked" wing, was normal.. and the rest was a million times better than I was expecting.... A huge thank you to Chester... and I can stronly reccomend this kit to anyone who wants to tidy up (or widen) their S12. I doubt I'll be putting many more pictures or reports up on the blog in detail about fitting this kit... but if anyone is trying to fit one and needs to talk about it... just ask me here..... or send me an email to wake me up... and I'll drop by to share my 5c. Cheers, Conkers. |
that is looking well sweet. when we goin to get our fingers out of our arses and collect the kits? i'll be up for it if my passport ever comes back!
|
I have email chester because iam well up for a kit to.
He said there is no problem sending it.:D I also thought i mite pay extra for postal insurance if he is ok with that. Just incace it gets damage, I can then go mad at the postal service.:furious and get them to buy a new one.. But iam not saying that it wouldnt be a grate road trip.:D Just my though dude:rolleyes: |
i'm more interested in collecting (as a group) cos each time i emailed chester, the postage went up:confused:
|
It seems I might have an extra kit here now (in sweden) as the Norwegian guy that asked me to collect (and pay for) his kit for him, was supposed to come down at the weekend collect and pay for it.
So far all I have heard from him is: "have you got the kit, what is the quality like?" Which I take to mean, "if it is shite then I don't want it". I told him to read my blog, see the pictures and decide for himself what the quality is like. He has not been in touch since...... How long do you reckon I should hold his kit before I sell it on....??? I'll be coming to the uk in July so anyone who wants it can have it for purchase price plus half what it cost to collect it. (kit and collection 500 euro) postage within the uk will be at the buyers expense, or come to Corsham in Wiltshire to collect it anytime in July, I should be in Wiltshire for a month. The kit I have is just as good quality as the one we fitted to my car last weekend, it's in the paintshop now, but even the bodywork guy is impressed by the quality of chesters GP kit. I wouldn't bother with the hassle and expense of going down to poland to collect 2 kits again, next time I'll get them sent in the post if I need any replacement panels. So if you are a group who can all trust each other, then I suppose it would be a fun trip to go and collect them, I should imagine that the costs from the UK would make it worthwhile to collect 4 or more kits,ยด3 kits would probably hit break-even point. If you are only getting 2 kits it will cost you more than postage. Just make sure you collect the money from all involved, BEFORE you start the trip, money for the kits and for the trip costs. Otherwise somebody will bail out and you'll be left paying more for the trip and have an extra kit left over.... My 2c.. Conkers. |

Sorry for that but i dont want ot put more money in to this then i alerady did. The firs cost was only the shiping. Then i foud out i have to make boxes for the fenders and protection stuff so it would not get damadged during transport. this stuff also weights some so i had to increese shiping costs. Sory for that. The best option is to come here and pick it up. U see what u get. And u dont get scamed on the shiping costs(im not sayng that im doing that). |
All these acusations about scamming is outrageous, well done chester your doing a great job by the looks of conkers kit:)

Not finished yet, but here's some more work in progress shots from last night.
The colour scheme is not complete yet, there is a white stripe to go between the red and blue, classic nissan/datsun colour scheme, and a white border around the bottom of the car, front splitter and bib need to go on, wheel spacers are being made. Going to use compomotive two piece 16x8 rims, porsche 924 rear wheel studs (m14 x 1,5 x 70 long) if we can drill out the hubs to accept them and 25mm spacers, not sure what offset the compomotives are, but I guess they are close to zero... this body kit with standard wheels would need 60mm spacers to fill the arches out.. Rear wing, lightweight door mirrors and lowering of the seats will be done after the car is re-registered.. for legal reasons... Same applies to bigger brakes and changing the engine.... shhhhhhhh... we have to get it re-registered for road use with roll cage and as a two seater.... and then once they go through everything with a fine toothed comb, to make sure we haven't tuned it or changed seat mountings, mirrors lights etc... then we can change almost everything as subsequent yearly tests will just check light alignment, rust and emissions etc. Pictures here: http://racing-green.blogspot.com/200...1_archive.html Take it easy... Conkers
Looks great Can't wait until my fenders arrive No fault of chester, I've paid for my GP kit just getting the money together for shipping now. Brian |
Yepp... the 6R4 is ours too... bought is off Max Wakefield, it has been through wobblers hands recently also.. (wobbler = dave appleby). The reg number is a recognised plate from back in the day.. A20 ROV supposed to be 420 ROV (for 420 bhp rover). It's on a back burning till we find an engine for realistic money, but I am shying away from the V64V powerplant as they are sh1te anyway... might put a st220 V6 in it, cossie diffs etc... just waiting for time and within 5 years they will be ok for use in historic rallies... he he he....
Right then... it's saturday morning, a little hung over from single malt whiskey, a night off from the workshop and too much bullsh1tting with the boys down the pub last night....time for a reality check, off to the workshop for a long day that will hopefully end with a test drive. Conkers. ps.. Got some new wheel centers yesterday for my compomotivesplit rims, need to get 2 of them machined, goning to od that first today... so might even get the wheels on it today also.... otherwise there wont be a test drive... |

Ok... so the car is up and running....
we re-registered it with the authorities on thursday last week (March 30th 2007), we had no problems with the process, the roll cage was totally padded so that even a nut case would be safe inside the car, the exhaust with side exit was ok as were the adjustable suspension, plastic rear windows and electronic rally-trip speedometer (can be seen behind the steering wheel in some pictures). I don't have many pictures as we have been too busy this past week getting the car ready and then going out to play in it. Still to be done is the painting of the white stripes (between the red/bue and at the bottom of the skirts) fitting of a rear wing (not allowed for the registration test), lightweight mirrors and lowering the seats so we can actually see out! We are also going to get some 90-100mm long rear porsche wheel studs, as the 70mm 924 turbo rear studs are not long enough on the rear. We are currently only running a 20mm spacer at the rear and ideal would be 35mm to get the wheels right out in the wheel arches.. it is easy to change them now that the hubs and discs are already drilled to 14,5mm and the rear arms have had a notch ground in them to let the longer studs pass through from behind without needing to remove the hubs. 150bhp makes it a fun car for the easily impressed, but we will be looking for some more, so the head is coming off next week, I will port the head, get a decent camshaft, T25 turbo, intercooler, injectors, fuel pump and a remap. Also might look into baffling the fuel tank as we get fuel surge doing donuts on less than 1/4 tank of fuel! First set of rear tyres are already shredded.... so as a drift car she is approved.....! As has become normal, pictures are on my blog... if anybody needs detailed pictures of any part of the car or modifications, just drop me a line or ask here... and I'll do my best to take pictures and explain how we did what we did and why..... Have fun out there with your bodykits... but just be ready to buy some serious wheels with a bonkers offset... or some nutty spacers! Awsome :D
|
It's largely due to you Maciej.... so thank you for making these kits available.
Will I be able to contact you in a year from now if we need replacement panels due to shredded tyres or race track contact? Conkers. |
of coure

Somebody asked what my car would weigh when it was done... and now it is official.
1120kg with half a tank of fuel, no spare wheel or jack. Now that it is tested we can modify the seat runners and floor to lower the seats and fit lightweight door mirrors, so another 20kg will be coming off that I expect. Conkers |
Your wheels are the tits. Probably the best I've seen on an s12 for sometime, What are they?
|
The wheels are 16x8 compomotive split rims. Found them for sale used a couple of years ago and bought new centres to use them on my VW camper bus, then bought new centres again to fit them on the S12. Very 80's, very period... very strong and very very heavy. :-(
Conkers |
Surprised to hear they are heavy.
I want them. Don't know why but they look phat! |
yes they are very nice and look feckin awsome with the body kit.
