Water fuelled S12

And that's what mine will be once I've perfected the workings.

I'm sure you're all thinking I'm taking the p*ss now. Well, I'm not!

It IS possible to convert a petrol engine to run on water and it HAS been done on many occasions. I'll be the first to do it on an S12 though.

JackieFan 12-09-2006 11:40

lol, how and..... errr.... why? :D

30psi 12-09-2006 12:14

PMSL you must be pissed Rich:D

How are you gonna split Hydrogen and Oxygen from the water with just a battery. Don't know if you can remember but prob at school they showed you electrolysis, and it would show tiny bubbles of Hydrogen and Oxygen on either terminals.

You would need a lot of Hydrogen, which means a lot of power to get that Hydrogen.

The engine would always consume far more Hydrogen than what could be produced. Even if it didnt, the engine would have to power the alternator to split the water. You don't get power for free, due to energy conservation so it would never run.

:trout

JackieFan 12-09-2006 12:31

I remember that!! lol, wow that's going back some!

Not that I have a blind clue what I'm gibbering about but I guess you could always use a "donkey" gen engine to run the electrolysis then run the CA on the results..... would have to be one efficient generator to make it worth doing though! and would mean that you still ran on some pump gas

I can't remember if you can speed things up a bit if you use more voltage or more current :o couple of step up/down transformers might help I guess lol!

Plus.... could cost a fortune in salt!

EDIT - Ignore the salt bit...... like I said it's been a while ;)....... although I'm sure it's a little relevent...... somewhere :trout

datdrift 12-09-2006 12:38

i'm sure it would be really fast:p

30psi 12-09-2006 12:48

I'm just waiting to hear how Rich is gonna do it...

s13eater 12-09-2006 13:59

why don't you use methane rich, you would get plenty from the bullsh!t:D lol.

30psi 12-09-2006 14:17

www.s12oc.co.uk will be world famous because its bound to get posted around the world that Richard Kimberley was the first to get free power from water.

And to top it off, he did it in an S12!

The worlds famous S12 1809cc water powered beast.

JackieFan 12-09-2006 14:22

Maybe it'll end up featured in a mag! ;)

I've already heard rumours that the BBC are gonna due a special one off Tomorrows World dedicated to the water powered S12 :D

JackieFan 12-09-2006 14:34

I hear that that's shortly followed by the "Lead to Gold" proof of concept documentary! :p

Then Alan Titchmarsh will be on after that with other fellow horticulturists showing us how to grow money trees

JackieFan 12-09-2006 14:41

LOL, I'll set my Sky Plus now! :D

hmm very interesting:D would this still produce over 200bhp like you have now?:trout

RichardK 14-09-2006 12:00

:D

First thing is to get my generator on water. Then a crappy micra (sorry mart, lol) and then the S12.

Time is a pain in the arse tho!

30psi 14-09-2006 12:03

You can have my Micra, its for sale;) £100!

Now driving an N reg Escort. The Micra was just too shite :trout

So, how ya gonna do it then?

s13eater 14-09-2006 13:10

never mind tomorrows world, it will be on crime watch, he needs locking up lol:D

JackieFan 14-09-2006 13:29

I wonder if they tax magic water fuel?

PukkaSilvia 15-09-2006 01:11

Be carefull you dont flood your engine

Fill her up Tubs

Howdy doody people hope your all well, but from what ive read hear richard has gone mental, after i read about his plans for water powered s12 i pulled this beauty out of cylinder 4 of his engine:1la

Good to be back guys;)

30psi 15-09-2006 09:59

I'm interested to here where this has been done successfully, its strange that its not a world wide known phenomenon that everyone keeps talking about...

Oh, I bet the gas companies have paid people to keep quiet... Must be that

JackieFan 15-09-2006 11:16

Does that mean that maybe if we all start talking about doing it we'll ALL get a nice lump of hush money!

I assume that Richard is going to produce Hydrogen enmass out of the car then change the setup of/replace the fuel tank to accept the gas instead of petrol. Then alter the fuelling on the car.

It would be seriously cool if he pulls it of! Bloody dangerous tho and I'd not try it myself ;)

Best of luck!! :D

30psi 15-09-2006 11:52

Well hydrogen power is nothing new. Its a developing technology.

Unfortunately the technology to get hydrogen from water is still undeveloped. Its moved on a little from electrolysis. Its actually twice as efficient as say burning coal to create electricity, and there was natural well's for gases such as hydrogen.

Also, hydrogen fuel is actually a more efficient fuel to use in a car, with less pollutants, and this over weighs its energy loss in creating hydrogen in the first place.

A hydrogen fuel cell actually creates electricity. Basically a reversal of the electrolysis process.

Regardless, you'll never get a car you can pour water into the tank, expect it to create hydrogen for free, then get the engine to run on it.

Simple physics laws state that you will never get more energy out of something than put in...

A more interesting (truthful) fact though is that hydrogen is 14.4 times lighter than air

Hi Rich

Any update on how you've been getting on with this? ;)

I forgot how funny this thread was! I think I know why Richard has disappeared, he's been abducted by the oil companies! :D

s12@rusty 23-06-2014 20:24

intresting

is it going to be run purley on water or just water injectors to cool the engine internaly . good look hope it works out for you
