s13 gearbox internals??

hey does anyone know if the s13 gearbox internals fit inside the s12 bell housin??

PukkaSilvia 14-09-2006 22:28

I should imagine they would fall out the whole where the clutch release bearing arm goes.

They may fit better inside the gearbox itself :D

Sorry Bud lol

doski 14-09-2006 22:31

rite just coz i found out that the s14 internals fit in the s13 bell housin so if the s13 internals fitted in the s12 bell houin then maybe s14 internals inside s12 bell housin and resultin a lot better gear box... lol

s13eater 14-09-2006 22:40

you will not get the s14 clutch to fit the s12, its to big, i know, i got one supplied for the s14 by mistake, the s14 thrush bearing fits better than the s13 one though.

PukkaSilvia 14-09-2006 22:41

You could just use the complete s14 gearbox. the shifter is 2 1/2 inches further to the rear of the car so you would have to adapt your geargater slightly though. Then get the propshaft shortened.

JAPSTER uses an s14 gearbox. Or call Norris designs as they did his for him.

s13eater 14-09-2006 22:42

is he a millionair ? lol:D

doski 14-09-2006 22:47

I find my mk1 gearbox great.Shauns is holding out well too etc. USE redline heavy duty gearoil. She will love it. i just think you have been unlucky.

Unfortunately it does seem the S12 gearboxes are a bit of a weak link, with about the same strength as the S13 ones.

I've look at bellhousing swaps before.

I haven't looked at the comparison behind the mk1 and mk2 bellhousing bolt patterns. But I'm assuming they're different. I am also assuming though that the mk2 shares the same bolt pattern as the s13 box

Get an S14 box. Get a wrecked S12 mk2 box (i have one)

Removed the bell housings off each, and bolt the S12 bell housing to the S14 box.

Then see where you stand with the props. You might find a mix of mk1 and mk2 props might give the required length.

i used to use mk2 s12 boxes, but now use s14 boxes with s13 bellhousings. im pretty sure a mk1 bellhousing wont fit the s13/14 boxes. The s14 box with S13 CA bellhousing needed my propshaft shortening by 50mm, and moved the gear lever back 65mm.
Think the s12 mk2 bellhousing will fit the s13/14 boxes (but not tried it)
