s12 mk1 and mk2 engine

what are the differences with these engines? ive got a mk2 and puttin a mk1 engine in

PukkaSilvia 26-09-2006 18:36

nothing much. Just different oil feed line to the turbo.

If you can get the oil line with it that would help you alot.......

Dr Silvia 26-09-2006 19:40

the ancillary pullies are different too

s12Rob 26-09-2006 20:37

pulleys aint a prob as ive got new mk1 and mk2 belts. im putting mk2 head on mk1 bottom, how will i get this to work

alundra 26-09-2006 21:54

mk1 and 1.5 have got mechanical valve system mk2 hydraulic ones, right?

PukkaSilvia 26-09-2006 23:03

wrong Alundra.

As dr_silvia has just pointed out the pullies are different including the bottom pully but they are all interchangable

umpkin 27-09-2006 00:03

if your putting a mk2 head on a mk1 bottom, then you should have no probs, as all the differences i.e pullys and oil feed pipe are all on the bottom end, tis just you have to keep the mk1 turbo pipes.

I bought a mk2 head from canada it has got hydrolic valves system retainer don't know the right word, sorry):

What i had on my car mk1.5 -mk2 lift, no rev limiter- with mecanical clearance system:

The pulleys are the same.

What do you think about that?

PukkaSilvia 27-09-2006 08:27

thats not standard mk1 or mk2. I think thats been fitted at a later date or at the very least it was not available in the uk.

Maybe 30psi would know about it,i havnt seen it before.

30psi 27-09-2006 08:54

Sounds like a CA20 head to me

alundra 27-09-2006 13:12

Sure it came from a 1.8 turbo, but works with my motor; more than 2 months i ran with it :p.

I even saw CA20E with mechanical valve system.

30psi 27-09-2006 13:16

OK, well what cam has it got?

I can tell you now the CA20 cam is crap. The CA18 cam in the CA20 head still isn't at its best, unless you use the different ratio rockers from the CA18.

Francais ;) :

Quelle cam a t'il ?

Je peux te dire maintenant que le CA20 cam c'est de la merde. Le CA18 cam dans la tete du CA20n'est toujours pas la meilleure solution, a moins que tu utilises un ratio different du CA18

CNHSS1 27-09-2006 16:05

bloody show off Martin ;) im still struggling with english......

honest_jim 27-09-2006 18:53

Yep thats a CA20 head all turbo s12's came with adjustable tappets.

alundra 28-09-2006 00:17

Can I go 10 psi with it?

30psi 28-09-2006 08:06

Yes but using a CA18 cam and rockers would be best.

Oui mais ca serait mieux d'utiliser un CA18 cam et rockers
