what's happened to SE
Have silvia engineering stopped trading?
phoned their number (number not reconised) web page also not their. Got their 2001 catalloge they sell/sold lost of good stuff for S12's its a shame if their gone. |
They went under a while ago...
They are infamous for messing people around, bodge jobs, poor customer service etc... I and several other members have dealt with them in the past and learnt our lessons.. Don't bother them, they're busy:1la :ghey search for pete rosenburg on sxoc to hear more.. |
What has everyone bought off them out of interest?
I have his mobile no. if you need it. The main problem at SE is the shite customer service. This stems from shite employees, which is where the mistakes happened. Everyone slates them off, but they must have done some good work to have been going for the 8 or so years they existed. Everyone hears about a poor job, but many people rarely hear about a good one. |
I agree i have seen some good work too..:)
however the work they did for me on my first car was a bodge for the price, took forever to do, and reasons for delays were found to be lies, also they failed to helicoil my cyl. head properly.. kinda leaves a bitter taste:mad: :trout after seeing some examples outside of their premises on my first visit i was confused as to what had happened with mine and many others:confused: |
Well our newest member is Pete Rosenburg
Its quite a coincidence, If its him i would hope he would introduce himself and and let us know the latest news his end, It may be someone fooling around with a bogus registration. An Ip check can be made after posting if it comes to it.. Welcome to s12oc Mr Rosenburg  |
Mr rosenburg
Pukka i wonder if anybody has mentioned this to shawn?????:D :D
Remember the teeshirt??:p |
:D shaun's just read it, the only couple of things i can slate SE for are, not putting a paddle clutch in when i asked for one, the six months it took them to get my forgies from america, more like a slow boat from china, taking so long to do the job and not wanting to speak to me when they had most of my money oh and no porting, well not any that would make any differece:rolleyes: , the rest of the engine was well sorted, it must have been to stay together for so long:) 38k and still got the honing marks, mind you i do look after the damn thing, new plugs, new oil filter, castrol rs 10/60 every 3 months from new, never fail.

I think this thread started after that member came on...
My head was ported and polished like he said. Just not by much pmsl... My major issue was TIME. Fuck me it took years to get him to do stuff in the end. |
My old Silvia had some great work done by SE, of course I didn't own it when it was done so I can't comment on customer service!
|
my black mk1 has had alot of stuff done by se nissan but this was also before i owned it have all the paper work
|
Quote:
Peoples number one gripe was Time and customer service as Martin says... some of there parts were good and have made a good inpact on owning the s12  |
some bits were done b4 i owned mine and some after.
mine has :- rear beam decamber rear beam bushes (uprated) cossie intercooler kit front splitter rear boot spoiler pos a few others cant remember. all seems to fit ok, cant complain to much, never had any machine work done, so i never really had to phone. i spoke to pete a few times for some advice, and always found he helped me beyond what he really needed to, a few of the others that gave advice may have well had the phone down there pants and talked b*ll*cks. so in all my own experience of Pete R personally was good. just his staff let him down big time. |
in my honest opinion, as with other companies, they just get greedy, they don't give a flying feck unless you have thousands to spend on an evo , skyline, etc, etc, you know its true, the s12 is not a money earner for them, the s13 only earns money cos of the drifting, the big boys like the supra and skylines earn the money cos of the drag scene, scoobies and evo's cos the rally scene , we will soon be forgoten if we are not carefull:trout i think at JAE 2006 we should get in touch with thor and one of the jap mags , so we get a feature on the main evevt, NO SHERKERS, lets show them that us s12 owners have what it takes, lets get it toghether on the same days,:1la  :D to you new enthusiasts, i might seem like an old fuddy duddy, but prove me wrong and do me proud, and dennis evans, who inspired me to tune the s12.
|
i'am here again, another thing is , pete rosenberg should admit defeat, settle is debts and actually appologise to his costomers, then actually make an appearece, because at the end of the day he must of liked the s12 to start and modify them, come on pete come and let us know the whole story of the s12 and why.all said and done he made a good job of my engine.:)

I did get hold of the Silvia engineering cossie intercooler kit, but we chopped it up to fit it to the turbo beetle. The silvia that it came from had a metal duct going to the intercooler, so it prob worked nearly as well as any of our front mounts.
He didn't actually go under. He decided to actually close shop and call it a day. He had a problem with the council at his premises. He had a few cars and used to park some outside during the day to which they got the arsehole. Eventually they forced him to leave, and then he decided to finish off the current work and not take on any more. I wonder where all the other s12's are that had major engine work done by SE... |
I only got a increased boost kit from them. Which turned out to be some
rubber piping and a metal T'piece for around £60-70! Phoned them twice 1st guy was helpful 2nd guy was NOT. Iam just wondering were iam going to get a 5th injector kit etc from now? i have been told that running 12p.s.i from 4000rpm up the silvia's injectors are working flat out, more boost/power requires more fuel hence the 5th inj they used to sell. They used to sell the cosworth intercooler kits or a front mount type with a radiator relocatoin kit. Also a copy of the factory bootspoiler in fibreglass etc I think P/R also used to race silvias years ago hence all the parts/knowhow. |
who are p/r, i would not bother with the 5th injector kit, i had one, it was overfueling a t25 at 18psi and i had the full spec engine that i'am running now, they used a ford cold start injector with a metro oil pressure switch, it came on at 5/7psi, i'd say if you had to use one, have it come on at about 16/18psi through to 22psi on a t3, this would still overfuel, but would protect it up the top end and cool the pistons, i have mine set up to run rich up the top, this is what andy @AMT engines has done, so that i can run a flat out top speed run, this can bugger the plugs up, in japan they run the 300zxtt that rich that they have to change the plugs after every run.
|
The cold start injector never seemed to add much fuel in my opinion, it only gave out a fine little queer mist. If its designed to enrichen an engine a bit at 1000rpm, I doubt it has much ability at full throttle at 6000rpm. The 5th injector was a waste of time, it did nowt for me.
Why are you having it run so rich at the top end Shaun? You lose power when its too rich. |
its not mega rich, but if you where to run full out on a top speed run for a mile and a quater, its better to run richer to cool the pistons, a lot of the top tuners run rich thats why you can see them poor the black smoke out on full boost, i do more long top speed runs against scoobys than the old traffic light grand prix's against nova's,its just sensible to follow the proven methods:trout ,
|
Do you know what ratio you are aiming for?
|
its 11/6 at the moment but i'am having anthor map made up to run 11/1 for top speed runs.
|
11.6 isn't too bad, normally the top speeders aim for 10.5
|
yep i got it wrong, it was running 11/1 on the t3 at 23psi but with the t34 on 17psi it has leaned out to 11/6, so obviosley it flows a lot more air.
