boost pipe

my turbo boost pipe pop of last night me and garf have put bak on but still not running right just makes loud spluters and hard to start has any one got any ideas what eles to look at help.
the think is the pipe seems tight on:confused:

PukkaSilvia 16-10-2006 20:37

I would say check the pipes again. It may have a splitt in it somewhere. Other than that it would probably be your air flow meter or pipe between the air flow meter and turbo or the plug on the air flow meter. You may of knocked it off while refitting the other pipe. :)

If its the standard steel pipe from turbo to inlet, these are crap to be honest. There should be a nice rubber bung to make the seal on to the turbo. This could be the issue. Also at slight increases of boost, these have a habit of popping off creating the symptoms u have

adzs12 16-10-2006 23:47

Yeah the nice orange rubber bung that perishses:rolleyes:

JackieFan 17-10-2006 11:03

... or trys to dissapear up the hose when refiting to the turbo!

jakezx 17-10-2006 13:09

checked all the air flow pipes and connectors all ok, rubber bung is ok. can you thing of anything else which would cause this problem i will keep you posted.

ive had a look at this, but its been dark both times which hasent helped......and everything seems to be on fine:confused: its a low mileage minter with NO rust anywhere, all the connetors look mint etc.....it just turns over and sometimes coughs into life for a few secs then dies.....i pulled the ecu out to see if it would give any clues and all i got was a 44, which i belive means OK.

any ideas:)

edit; oh yeah and its a compleatly standard auto, stock boost everything

PukkaSilvia 18-10-2006 18:58

If its nothing of the above and you definatly refitted everything you removed or had popped off then its got nothing to do with it and you need to test everything from scratch

Starting off with......

Is the battery and alternator outputs ok
Have you knocked a dizzy connector off or damaged you king ht lead etc

Then go through and check every connector and join you see and try different air flow meters, coils if you have spares etc

honest_jim 19-10-2006 16:52

There are 2 fuse links that run off the battery its worth checking these. Check them with a test light but move them around at the same time to ensure they dont cut out with vibrations. The connectors can go bad but its an easy fix.

jakezx 23-10-2006 17:31

still working on hopfully havin some look at it soon to see what they think tried all the above still no luck dont have a test light though:

jakezx 24-10-2006 14:30

still no luck got the day off and trying my best to get the silvia going but still no look help. cheaked ht leads seem ok and the dizzy cap and bost pipe again and all the fuses also the air flow pipe and connectors but still wont fire cannot get the sparks out cannot get spark plug socket down the tight gap :trout

JackieFan 24-10-2006 14:39

Fuel pump?

datdrift 24-10-2006 17:51

don't think its the fuel pump, it makes a noise, and the fuel can be smelt after cranking the engine, almost seems like its flooding......

JackieFan 24-10-2006 18:00

Have you not got a spare plug you can test for a spark with? At least you'd know that it was getting as far as the plugs that way. Odd problem tho :(

datdrift 24-10-2006 18:04

yeah i have, but i'm working alot at the mo, and so's jake, so its tricky meeting up, etc:(
