Fitted T25

Got around to fitting my t25 this weekend/start of week, one of the exhaust studs in the head needed helicoiling, so i had to take the engine out anyway. so after helicoiling one of the studs i bolted up the t25, and blanked off the water feeds, i also fitted a different flywheel and s13 clutch cover. And after bolting it all back up i can now let you know that she flys:) i took it drifting round matchams oval last night, and dident notice too much difference, except a bit more lag and more poke when its on boost, but its right at the top end of 2nd , on the limiter alot of the time..... on the way home it was a different story tho, it pulls much harder than before, and down a private test track near me where i would normally pull about 115mph she was past 125:cool: and its sooo much nicer to drive now ive fixed the blow again:)
here she is with th t25 bolted up, it was only a cheepy and smokes a bit every now and then, but it will do for a bit.....

Cool, did you notice a difference with that flywheel then?

datdrift 09-11-2006 12:51

well the flywheel that was on it was actually lighter! but i fitted your one as the other one had loads of heatspots and some little cracks on it....i think it had a mk2 fly fitted, as it dident seem to be machined, heres a pic of a normal mk1 your lightened one and the one which was on it(i'm presuming a mk2 as ive heard these are lighter??). on my shitty scales the mk1 weighed 12kg lightened mk just under 10.5kg and the mk2 10kg:rolleyes:

That is very weird!

Seems like a waste of time to be lightening a flywheel when a normal one will suffice.

The one there that has been lightened is a mk2, because it was about 2kgs lighter than what I replaced it with which was a mk2. So I assume the Mk1's are lighter than a Mk2 flywheel.

maybe:confused:

this is the 10kg one that was on the engine, you can see there's a little lip on the edge of it whereas the others don't have it?

The only thing I can think of, is that maybe you had a bluebird flywheel, because they always seemed to be more revvy from what I remember from being in a few.

Sorry about that mate. That was obviously a good intention, but a pretty pointless one.

Nice job :)..Is that an adjustable fuel pressure regulator you have fitted there ?..I'd be interested to know which type it is and how you modified the injector rail as I want to replace mine to get a bit more control on fueling.

datdrift 09-11-2006 13:06

don't worry mate, as i said the other one had heat spots and was starting to crack anyway...

its a fse fpr, i got it second hand with the fuel rail, which has just been fabricated out of some pipe not using the standard rail at all....:)

looks cool man, ill have to get one of them sorted, as for turbo i think ill go for a t28

PukkaSilvia 09-11-2006 20:09

Well done. No one should be using a t2 anymore. there :ghey

that's the same as the fly I took of another B-reg car's engine, I looked at how i was going to lighten it and decided there's no need, it's just going to get a skim
