silvia vs ae86?

How come the corrolla AE86's are so expensive yet we can still pick up s12 for peanuts? What so good about the corrolla? My silvia cost me £200 quid and i reckon i should be pushing 200 plus for probably £250 outlay!!! Bargain power.

because ae86's have been used for drifting by the japs loads and now everyone wants one + they have a lsd as stock and a nice revvy engine and are light, but as everyone on here knows s12's are better:D (or at least better value;) )

AE86 have a better chassis and have a long racing heritage. the 4AGE also has heritage and is very closely based on the Ford/Lotus BDA. S12's don't have that kind of history so they're never going to have the same kind of attraction for people that are worried about that sort of thing. I personally think that a CA18ET in an AE86 would be a weapon

the s12's where used in rallies, i have footage of per eklund and dave whittock in the fj power s12, i'll find out where they where used, i think in the olympus rally and a few others.

s13eater 11-11-2006 14:46

 oh yeah... so it is. doh! thicky Mcthick is leaving the building!!

Ronin 13-11-2006 09:28

The reason everyone wants a ae86 is Initial D, so make a popular animated series about a tofu delivery boy who drives a S12..........................

Why do you think this?

nots13 13-11-2006 11:28

cos everyone wants to go sideways now probably? i did see a very daft car the other day mind, it was a mini cooper-s :ghey with d1 proffesional drift graphics all over it and jap style crazy bodykit type thing! like to see him drift that! maybe if he went round backwards or something?

30psi 13-11-2006 12:07

I've been in an AE86 and it is a much lighter, smaller more nimble car. It handles better as standard, and despite being less powerful, isnt any slower.

The first drifters started in these, and as a result are now over valued.

i meant on my budget;)

yeah thats true. Ive been looking for a 80's roadsports race leage for a while, I know there is one but cant find it as of yet. It cludes cars like th old saph cosys, early rx7s, Triumphs, capris.

Id like to compete with an s12 in that

s13eater 13-11-2006 18:36

what did SE compete in, if they ever did,i've seen pics of there car on the track and does GBH compete in anything ?.

That's what I was about the say. People here in the States take 86's way too seriously. I think there shitty. I don't like how there soo small. The S12 is way better & a little bigger. The only reason why there such a big deal is because of the Drift King. It was his first car. That's what he used for Drifting. So therefore it's his favorite. The 86 isn't even an easy car to Drift in. Alot easier to do it in a Turbo S13 than in the 86. The 86 drives alot like the Miata. You constantly have to redline it. But that's just what I think. If you can Drift in a 86 then you can Drift in any car. That's why alot of the people in D1 that drive 86's are soo good. They've mastered it. It's not an easy car to get for your first Drift car.
- S12 :shoot AE86. Lol.

nots13 14-11-2006 11:41

i would reckon that although the ae86 is supposed to be better as standard, i think that if you got a silvia and an 86 and modifeid them to the same levell of tune using similar or the same components i reckon the silvia would end up better. surely most of the silvias extra wieght is in its interior? i.ve had a couple of toyotas( a front wheel drive corolla gti 16v and a mk1 mr2) and both of thier interiors were very flimsy and lightwieght, whereas in my silvia its like having 2 velour armchairs and its all bolted together with cast iron!:D of course i'm probably wrong cos i've never seen an ae86.

FLEXXX 15-11-2006 17:07

well ive had corollas gti and gt and my brother still has 3 and my bro in law has just bought a mk2 gti with a 4agze supercharged engine which fensport has built and it is fast but the trick comes in when you line up with a s12 with a capable driver you will suprise alot of these hot hatches as i am sure we all have a few battles under our belts
i was a second slower at santa pod against a R33 2.5t skyline which i was chuffed about as i only had half a ss zorst, induction kit and no interior not bad

nots13 16-11-2006 08:46

true. i definately kicked a few suprised asses! the fasted car i pulled on was a 2.5 v6 alfa 156 which i thought would have me once we hit the dual carriagway. and at the other end of the scale i wasted the local golf gti on his home turf( a lovely smooth twisty back road):D

nots13 16-11-2006 15:34

j tuner magazine. this month, page 84, picture of a red 86. the caption reads ' despite their legendary status, the ae 86 is outclassed in almost every way by the silvias' ! steeeeerike 1!!:sderfd

30psi 16-11-2006 15:39

Thats probably referring to the S13/14 silvias

datdrift 16-11-2006 15:40

thats what i thought;)

PukkaSilvia 16-11-2006 19:17

Blatently the s12 :D

Dont spoil it Martin ;)

nots13 17-11-2006 10:16
