drifting at matchams

was out drifting at matchams last night:) 1st time ive been out there in the wet, and some spots were slippery as fook due the banger racers earlier in the week dropping oil everywhere, but i dident put it in the wall so all's good, found a little vid on driftworks, bit poor quality but you can get the idea;)

Good stuff! Did you get those bushes fitted?

30psi 23-11-2006 21:19

Looks like its nice and flat round the bends. Now its lower at the front, do the wheels rub at all on full lock?

datdrift 24-11-2006 08:15

i havent got the bushes fitted yet, there in the freezer ready to go;) think i might try today or the weekend, you done yours yet?

yeah it rubs on full lock on the inner arch, but i think thats it, and it only seems to do it one side as the trackings so far out:eek: but as soon as i get my rear subframe bushes fitted its going in for full alignment, any ideas about good settings for oversteer:)

To be honest I don't know what the drift boys do for setup.

Easiest setup is just go neutral all round, you cant go wrong there.

Nope :( just keep running out of time! They seem a little more solid than I was expecting, but they should do the job! I'm going to have a crack at it this weekend (fingers crossed) but I need to sort the brakes out first!

30psi 24-11-2006 09:53

Why are you putting them in the freezer? Are they made of ice cream? :1la

datdrift 24-11-2006 10:48

because if you put them in the freezer they contract and fit in easier, meaning i'm less likely to damage them when putting them in:)

30psi 24-11-2006 10:50

Yeah I tried doing it with my solid ones. Made no difference. Might work better with poly ones. Used a sledge hammer to get one in :shoot

datdrift 24-11-2006 12:51

yeah it does seem to make a difference freezing these ones, ive got my diff one done, but havent attempted dropping the subframe yet.......

duncan 25-11-2006 14:41

i like the look of those bushings mate. did you get them made up or are they available as a kit? i'm building a trackday s12 at the moment and could do with stiffening up the rear a bit

datdrift 26-11-2006 11:22

i got the bushes from www.mmr-direct.com but they are in america and took ages to ship them over:(

thats some nice drift control and a nice video. What diff setup are you using at the moment?

datdrift 10-12-2006 18:16

its just welded, not ideal but does the job well enough:)

datdrift
I just was checking out the vid from your local track
It looks smooth in the wet
It seemed you were holding back angle on the flicks when between corners
What upgrades do you have done to the suspension and what is your alignment settings?
I only asking as I may be able to give you some tips with set up
I noticed you were asking about settings at the begining of the thread
I run 3 deg neg camber a side with as much caster as i can with 6mm toe out
10mm on a wet track
I also run a mix S13/R31/R32gtr parts and 30mm spacers in the front end to achive max steering lock
The reason for the massive toe out is to dial out the understeer that the locked rear end causes
Hope the info helps
Brian
