fitting t28

is fitting the t28 to the silvia easy, same as a t25 for eg?

who has done this to thiers and how well does it work, whats it like?

PukkaSilvia 24-12-2006 14:54

yes its easy. It bolts straight on. use the t28 s14 downpipe and a braided oil line. you will have to then make up adapter flanges to bolt to the turbo's compressor housing to allow your intake and intercooler pipework to fit. Once you have actually bought a t28 you will see for yourself how easy it is.

A hybrid t28 or t25 is probably the best turbo you could go for on a ca18et

s12Rob 24-12-2006 16:42

this is just a re-con t28. ill set it up to run a bar std, got det pistons and rods to go in, then get her setup on the rr. happy days

PukkaSilvia 24-12-2006 17:13

remember to budget for new piston rings, bore honing, new bigend bearings. head gasket, head bolts, sump gasket and anything else which could need replacing after inspection.

Have you actually paid Brad for the car yet?

s12Rob 24-12-2006 18:22

thats between me and brad, he told me he hasnt got an adress for me to send the money to. so untill that gets sorted, head is already off as head gasket went, head being skimmed. cam belt, new bearings, new rings, sump gasket, rocker cover gasket. t28 turbo, front mount being piped up before she comes on the road. am hoping for about 200+bhp at 1bar

PukkaSilvia 24-12-2006 19:56

Ok mate. im just trying to look after a friend of mine. What front mount intercooler have you got to go in? are you going to getting rid of the mechanical radiator cooling fan too?

Do you not thing the car came on along way in the few months that it was down this way? It was far from finished but it saved you alot of panelwork etc. It must of been like a different car when you got it back:)

s12Rob 24-12-2006 22:52

oh yeh dont get me wrong, there was a lot of work gone into the car, wasnt too impressed with the exhaust with the samco on it and the respray but hey was a good price.

got a pace ally intercooler, yeh got sierra twin elec fans to go on, gunna wire them up to the air con switch

i think im gunna try and re-spray it myself at work, needs few bits fillering. how was the spoiler fitted as thats coming off.

adzs12 25-12-2006 00:30

I wasnt too impressed when we picked it up from you that you forgot to tell us it had to be started with a screwdriver or did it not having an ignition barrel slip your mind:trout

s12Rob 25-12-2006 13:30

i did actually say to brad in a msn convo that it needs a full lockset, wouldnt that make u think it needed one??

anyway lets not get into this again, back onto topic. what actuall work needs to be done to make this fit from a std t2 to a t28, ive got the exhaust flange, pipe for oil lines, what abuot water?? and does that lug need to come off the gearbox or will it be ok?

Well if id known it needed one i wouldnt be saying it now would i so less of the cheek:trout

You need to remove the lug yes because the downpipe interferes with it, what oil line have you got as a std t2 one wont fit, water lines is up to you really but hardly anyone bothers with them as its basically hot water cooling the turbo so seems pretty pointless in my opinion.

s12Rob 25-12-2006 16:19

ill use the oil lines that are still on the turbo, cut them and run some hose to the s12 oil feed, happy days, think i mite just take the water pipes out of the equasion. as u say no point in cooling a turbo with warm water, but surely it helps????

PukkaSilvia 25-12-2006 16:53

thats a damn good stainless exhaust you got there rob. it only needed the new backbox welding on.I also put a set of mint doors and wings off my mk2 onto it. it had a new mot on it too. :) . If you dont want the exhaust i will take it back.:D

water lines are not essential. there supposed to be there to reduce heat transfer from the exhaust housing to the compressor housing and increase turbo life. If you let your turbo cool down after a hard drive and your engine oil warm up before you boot it you shouldnt have any increased problems with durability

s12Rob 25-12-2006 18:06

oh dont worry i do that anyway, im not disputin the exhaust, is quality, just thought it was funny how the back box was connected to the main pipe with a bit of samco, ive had it welded up now anyway. but needs some brackets puttin on somwhere as it rattles like a cunt.

interior is out, im goin mental strip out, no carpets, door cars etc. keepin dash but everything else going. lol:D

adzs12 25-12-2006 18:28

I thought it was funny how you said you didnt notice the 10pence sized plastic bung that was in the passenger side rear quarter covering a bullet like hole when i pointed it out and asked what it was:1la

PukkaSilvia 25-12-2006 18:36

yeah what was that random rubber bung in the middle of the rear quarter panel? Did we get rid of it before it was satin blacked Adz?

adzs12 25-12-2006 18:57

Cant remember now to be honest, just pisses me off how someone can sell a car in that mess then get it back 10 times better and still start bitching about a piece of samco on the exhaust:trout

s12Rob 25-12-2006 19:05

i wasnt bitchin, just thought it was funny, no the hole is still there, lol

i think it mite of been an airel or some sort of alarm but who knows. was there for a reaon, i just didnt know what. i knew it was there :trout
