Unleaded

Heard from Nissan that I should only run my S12 on unleaded as it may damage the engine ?!

True or not chaps

s13eater 12-01-2007 01:14

diesel mate, thats the best.

bigtim 12-01-2007 01:52

as long as it is 97ron or above

umpkin 12-01-2007 06:39

originally nissan said that the S12 can only run on leaded 4 star, ive had my S12 now for 8 years, always run it on unleaded. it wont damage the engine as the valve seats have the inserts same as used in unleaded heads, the only other thing that can cause a prob is the timing, some say you need to reatrd it slightly. i think 2 degrees was the amount, but unsure on this.

most people use tesco 99ron super :D

It even says unleaded on the inside of the petrol flap:)

Ronin 12-01-2007 12:52

Say's use 97ron unleaded on my petrol flap.

adzs12 12-01-2007 14:46

i use shell optimax, or what is now known as v-power.

i wouldnt bother retarding the timing it will lower performance + generate more heat, the standard timing is 15deg + or - 1 deg. i used to run 17.5deg as it gave better off boost performance but i never use less than 97ron fuel

PukkaSilvia 12-01-2007 22:23

Standard timing will be fine and it will run normal unleaded for long distance commuting, If you intend on putting your foot down or are running a modified setup then use super unleaded. Also Shells new v power contains valve lubricant which is good

Paulpen 13-01-2007 13:12

Cheers then chaps :)
