front ball joint
Anyone changed one,
is it an arse to do and any tips:) |
Its quite wasy but sometimes when u change the bal joint the new one does not sit tight in the control arm so u have to weld it. And at a next change u hav to chane along with the control arm.

nah the play is in the balljoint itself as ive had a bar in there.
Just wondered if it was easy to get the ball out and in again with minimal tools and is the rollbar bolt going to snap on me  |
There is a cheap tool you can get that will try to push it out
|

Balljoint
The tool that Martin refers to is a "Massive fooking hammer"!!!!!, or metric and imperial adjuster.lol:D :D

Not sure if the arms and balljoints are the same as the pulsar:o But when i had mine done on the pulsar, my friendly mot station pressed them out and pressed the new ones in for £15:D
Some of the spurious ones for the pulsar are under sized and people put 3 spot welds on the edge as someone else said:D If they are the same as the pulsar?? You have to take the wheel off, undo the nut on the balljoint, split the joint, undo the arm and knock the retaining pin out, then the whole arm should drop out with a little bit of wigling:D |
I need to do my drivers side one, Nissan tell me thy are all one piece with the arm and want to charge me £115+vat  I see that just the joint can be changed, a few calls to various motorfactors that Halfords deal with (i got a trade card!) tell me that this part is no longer available, its not even listed in the new Blueprint catalog
So, anyone got a source for these? Thank you |
me and bigtim bought some last month and richk bought some today, they are about £13 each.
|
Where from Shaun? Ill give em a call
|
Try your local motor factors mate, we get ours from a company midwest, i would of thought you had a motor factor like them around by you.
The ones for the gtir, from nissan are £145 each side, you have to buy the arm complete from nissan, but the ball joints are between £10 and £15 each from a motor factors. Have you tried blueprint?? |
Like i said, im not sure what the s12 ones look like, but browsing ebay for you, i found these ones.

Idiot's question coming up.
I have my ball joints here. Looking down from above, it swivels as it should but one direction it will go a little more than the others as it has a slightly deeper groove around the ball. Which way does this dipped groove point? |
Answered my own question: doesn't matter lol, it's circular, not oval so is irrelivant which way it goes in :ghey
|
Everyone should know which way there balls swivel mate:D
