Also, the old turbo, exhuast, radiator, fan, air filter are off. Then intercooler has been moved inside for now. And the new T28, full powerflow exhaust, radiator, and electric fan are in (just waiting on gasket and ic pipes to arrive!).

There off a Rover Vittesse sport, the inside part has to be bored out slightly to fit though.

Harnesses are in the picture, there Luke ones. Im not sure about the back seats yet, my van is only a 2 seater, an it pisses me off. So may try an keep the back seats, more room for hoes an all that;)

Btw its shit you cant have more than 4 images, smiles or pics.

adzs12 05-12-2005 01:22

BOOOOO:1la

Hi mate good to see it back together and its looking sexy!!

The symptons ring a bell as i had loads of trouble with my coil earth and ignition in general.

Make sure the section where your coil sits is cleaned up as the earth here needs to be good as we all know.

There is a small single black wire that is earthed to the coil base plate and i added a second earth strap from this to a spot near the head light which has helped no end and i havent had any problems with it since !! ( So far lol )

You have to remember that 20 year old wiring loom isnt the most reliable so the best you can do unless you replace it is to try keep the earths and connections clean.

Il check mine tomorow and take a picture of my coil wiring if needed.

Good luck ;)

nissan_turbs 06-12-2005 19:31

Ok, been out there again today. Is starting to do my head in now!

When the car hasnt been turned over for a few hours, it pops when im turning it over (im assuming the timing is out, as i took the dizzy out). But it only pops twice, then theres nothing at all.

Then ill leave it two hours, an try an again, and ill get two pops an nothing again.

BUT, if i take the fuse out for the fuel pump and turn it over for a bit, then replace the fuse and try an start it. I get a HUGE backfire, and nothing again. Ive done this two or 3 times now, and everytime it gives a massive back fire. May just be me, but it sounds like there getting louder each time.

Any help would be appreciated, else its headed for the scrappy :trout

Dr Silvia 06-12-2005 19:37

i think you should check your ht leads are in the right order:nod

either that or ur dizzy is in wrong

adzs12 06-12-2005 21:06

I also asked about the ht leads being round the correct way and he told me they handt been removed from the distributor.

I had these exact symptons on refitment of my engine and it turned out to be the ht leads in the wrong firing order:D :trout

Il second you gota look towards the dizzy.

NOW its sorted :D

nissan_turbs 09-12-2005 18:56

 :D :1la :p

Well today, it fired up :D , virtually on the key as it always used to :D

The oil line to the turbo has split though, but other than that minor detail, all is good:1la

Huge thanks to Adz and Dr Silvia for the help, couldn't of done it without you guys :nod

nissan_turbs 13-02-2006 10:10

Well for all those who have been following the story, and were sitting at home this weekend, in the warm, thinking "Damn i hope Nissan_turbs the drunkard dosen't finish his car this weekend." This may be the worst day of your life:1la :D

Started first time, on the key, after being sat for months. New braided oil line finally arrived an only cost me a tenner:1la . After a bit of fun with the timing, it boosts happily and only have to change the manifold gasket and it should be perfect :1la :1la :1la :1la :1la

adzs12 13-02-2006 10:15

Nice one mate maybe now you can start doing the fun stuff and stop moaning  lol;)

nissan_turbs 13-02-2006 10:18

Doing the fun stuff???? Alcohol gets me crazy enough thanks:trout

Ordering the manifold gasket at the moment. Shouldn't be long:1la

nissan_turbs 14-02-2006 19:43

Rite, can someone please explain what im doing wrong.

Mani gaskets came today, swapped them over. Did all the bolts up as tight as they would go, starting from top right and doing the top row, then the bottom two.

Start it up, and its blowing, feel around and its coming from the underside of the right hand bit of manifold.....Again!

Im sure the manifold aint warped, as it was ok when it came off. What have I done now?:o

PukkaSilvia 14-02-2006 20:01

use flange sealant with the gaskets, clean all surfaces beforehand, tighten up all the bolts lightly then go round and tighten fully. They dont need to be very tight.let it go upto temperature and do 50 miles, retighten, again not to tight,or you will rip the threads out the head. Also check that the washers on your bottom studs are not still spinning when the nuts have gone tight.

adzs12 14-02-2006 22:42

Rob you sure the manifold aint cracked? Check closely as i had a hairline crack in one i took off.

nissan_turbs 25-02-2006 17:04

:D Its all running great now, just had the brackets for the battery welded into the boot. Shouldn't be long now (fingers crossed).

Yer it pinged off when i took it off to adjust the boost. Hasnt come off yet though.

adzs12 25-02-2006 18:34

Ha Ha i have a spare mate:) Call it a score plus p&p yeah:1la

nissan_turbs 26-02-2006 13:12

Rite i have a problem. Only a small one though.

The radiator fan is wired directly to the conncetor in the engine bay, where the battery used connect to. Which is now connceted straight to the battery in the boot. Then there is a switch, on a long strech of wire in the car, which is connected to the negative wire of the fan.

When the fan is off, it runs fine. Idles like a champ, and has no problems. As soon as i switch it on, it starts to missfire and wont idle at all.

I orginally thought it was a drain, but none of the wires get hot, and the head lights, dash lights and interior light dont dim at all. Any ideas chaps??

ONION 26-02-2006 13:26

wire the fan in independantly.
dont add it to a bunch of wires, or add it to an existing block.

youll find there is a wire that runs into that block, that if its corroded or loose etc makes the car run like a bag of shit.

make sure ALL the wires and wired in securely.

ADZ... finally got to say it :D

nissan_turbs 26-02-2006 13:28

Quote:

It is, straight to the wire that goes to the battery, and straight to ground.

Maybe be a grounding issue, will have a look in a sec.
