http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9JqXbMkGP8

still...400 quid...200bhp...0-60 in 6.9 sec.......145mph top speed.

i'll say hi to you all at jae..:D

PukkaSilvia 24-03-2007 23:19

im sure were not as sorry as you will be when you come to your sense's;)

nots13 24-03-2007 23:29

probably:rolleyes: still, at least its fast as feck! they come with a pelequin lsd as starndard too:1la i'm still not ruling out silvia ownership yet thought, cos out of the 8 cars i've had so far my silvia was one of 2 that i actually got rid of through choice! ( to by a manual one, the one i was gonna get though got sold the day i sold mine! doh!!!):p the rest broke!

Not that hard, I've seen at least three up for that price sinse you sold yours ;)

Try and get to 60 in 6.9...... I bet you're dissapointed, and then the head gasket will die!

nots13 25-03-2007 10:24

not with steel clinger gaskets it wont! where were you lookin? i genuinly looked everywhere for one!

JackieFan 25-03-2007 11:19

In that case the next thing to fall off it will be the gearbox, oh and don't wind the boost up any more, it will make 220BHP but probably only once ;)

There is one on ebay now ready to go for £250, all the links get posted here. Someone did the looking for me!

nots13 25-03-2007 12:28

there really wasn't any silvias about when i was lookin though. just that one on pistonheads, i rung the guy up and he said somebody was coming to buy it that afternoon. doh!! a bit late now:confused: like i said though, i'll more than likely get another one in the near future, in he mean time i'll just enjoy laughing at the boy racers as they're pride and joy gets a whuppin by an old man's land barge!!:1la

nissan_turbs 26-03-2007 01:15

I gave up my first Silvia for one of these. Not trying to put down your new purchase, but I had quite a few problems with it, and it wasnt all that fast. To be honest, I would say it would be beaten hands down by a Silvia with a few basic mods.

Some honest advice though,

Do not EVER remove the top water pipe on the rad (the small one on the right that goes to the turbo.) Seriously, take it off at the other end or something, as the bit it connects to is plastic and snaps (hand on heart, I went through 6 radiators in my time of ownership, as they all have the same problem.)

Dont wind the boost up, they really dont like it, especially the later ones (with 'Injection' written on the inlet manifold, instead of 'Turbo'.)

Dont try too many hard launches, the gearboxes are made of cheese.

And watch out for brake fade.

Other than that, they are a fairly cool sleeper car.

nots13 26-03-2007 15:38

That sounds like a challenge mate!!! lol..Yours must have been broken, or the boost modulater valve was only giving you 9psi of boost like they often do! cos i really wouldn't count on it being beaten by a silvia with " a few basic mods" cos my old one was one such car. (seat cupra intercooler, 10psi boost) and it was still no-where near as quick as this. the gear box's are strong enough its the driveshaft output bearings that collapse, but these can be upgraded, they are boost-limited in first gear to help too. also its a proven fact that you can get a genuinely reliable 220-225bhp out of these engines. oh and the car isn't that heavy too. 1120kg. yeah i've seen a number of poeple who have accidently snapped off the little top hose!

JackieFan 26-03-2007 15:50

Ok ;)

nots13 26-03-2007 15:57

that would make for a fun day i reckon!:D we could name it " beat the barge" not to hard for most of you lot though!! I think although as standard my car would beat a slightly modded silvia hands down, its got to be said that if each car was given 1k to make as much power/speed/handling ability as possible, then the silvia would win.

JackieFan 26-03-2007 16:14

Straight line stuff I think you might just about keep up with a fairly basic S12, but if you're thinking of turning a few corners then you've got no hope ;)

nots13 26-03-2007 16:24

Tell that to the owner of this one!!! http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?...71681&hl=en-GB

All this guys done is lower it on shrter springs/standard dampers, new wheels and a backbox. You're forgetting a few things, pelequin limited slip diff, very thick anti-roll bars, less weight than a standard silvia and its actually got a reasonable weight distribution, these ti's are not reguarded by those who know them as one of the best "q" cars ever for nothing you know, my last car was a lightweight mk2 golf gti, lowered 60mm, 205/50/r15 goodyear eagle tyres, eibach anti-roll bar kit. and this rover genuinely corners as good!

JackieFan 26-03-2007 16:36

Lol, I wasn't :p

That link doesn't work

EDIT

I heard this guy was running 220BHP

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBdGpHMv1IM

nots13 26-03-2007 19:09

nice wheel trims on that car!!! there's no url link to copy on to here for thats video so i just cut and paste that link which was from a thread on mg-rover.org.

nissan_turbs 27-03-2007 00:50

I was under the impression the weight of a 620ti is 1365 kg. Not sure the weight of a standard Silvia, cant see it being heavier than a 620 to be honest.

Not being funny, but wasn't your previous Silvia an Auto? My ti had full system exhaust, induction kit and the boost turned up to just before the fuel cut (just under a bar if memory serves me? Was a while ago now, so I could be wrong, but it was around there im sure.)

It was exactly the same speed as a bog standard Astra GTE 16v, the same car I beat in my Silvia with an exhaust, filter, intercooler and boost turned up. Spose races across the dual carriageway don't prove that much. Just food for thought.

Either way, mine was a fun car to have. Me and a few mates went out dressed as old man, flat cap and driving gloves the works and spanked a few of the local tossers in their Saxo's. Was a fairly entertaining way to spend an evening.

s13eater 27-03-2007 07:49

std silvia mk1 is 1135kg, mk2 silvia is around 1170kg, mine was 1240kg with the bodykit and those rather heavy supra leather seats.come on nots, you don't think your gonna come on a s12 forum telling us how good a rover is against a s12 and not get us biting do you ? lol:D , alls that i say is, lets see it at 20 years old and see if its still on the road, let alone still perform like it did when it came out of the factory, ;) .

nots13 27-03-2007 12:14

just a little friendly banter:1la i know how good silvias are, I miss my old one very much.:( i doubt very much that my car would still be on the road when its 20 years old! my owners manual says that it weighs 1128kg for the ti. the diesel one weighs 1350kg and the 623 weighs 1346kg. no way would a modded ti be the same speed as an astra gte!!!:out :ghey if thats the case then an astra gte would be able to beat a bimmer 330!! cos thats what i managed to hang off the arse off!:D

Did he know that you were trying? Or were you at a red light, I managed to stay behind an Aston Martin DB7 at a level crossing for almost 3 mins the other day....... in a Vauxhall corsa!!!! :wack

nots13 27-03-2007 12:29

:out OH DEAR!!! I know the guy who's car it was, he works with me. trust me, he gave it the beans!

JackieFan 27-03-2007 12:32

Did he change Gear? Was he in reverse? Did he only use the Starter motor? Tow Rope?

just under a bar!! there you go then, any more than 12psi and the extra boost becomes counter productive cos it just blows hot air.

slimreaper 27-03-2007 12:53

Its not what you drive its how you drive it! (by the way nots13, Jackiefan just got through to the semi-finals of Be a Racing Driver and used to race an MGBV8) :1la

nots13 27-03-2007 12:53

didn't know you could walk at 145mph with NO modifications!:D

true!:D mgbv8. i drove one of those once, it wasn't origionally a v8 though, it had a 260 odd bhp rover v8 from a trevor. what handfull!

nots13 27-03-2007 13:00

I can't take any Rover 620Ti driver seriously ;) The mods will jump in if it gets out of hand :wack

Plus it's providing some mild amusement to an otherwise mundane day :)

nots13 27-03-2007 13:05

yes indeed you can eat an ass with a spoon, you can demonstrate how if you'd like!:D

JackieFan 27-03-2007 13:08

Huh? If I didn't know it was possible how could I demonstrate, unless you're offering to eat my arse and then I'd have to decline because my bread is buttered on the other side thanks mate :p

nots13 27-03-2007 13:15

errrrrrrrrrrr:rolleyes: sorry my simpleton brain can't think of a witty response:1la i'll get back to you.:D

JackieFan 27-03-2007 13:17

If that's how slow you are no wonder the Rover seems quick! ;)

nots13 27-03-2007 13:36

its warp speed compared to a standard silvia!

JackieFan 27-03-2007 13:45

And a 330 BMW..... apparently

nots13 27-03-2007 13:50

id never actually said i was quicker than the bimmer, only managed to keep pace. and the end of the day a 330 is limited to 155mph! 10mph after mine runs out of speed. the roads we were on weren't long enough to get more than 110 before the next bend:)
