new wheels!

bought some wheels today that were advertised as 17x7s! didn't bother checkin them as was half asleep but got them home and had a look and it turns out they're 17x8s(super advans)! not sure wot offset but they r 4 stud and came off an r33 skyline! does any1 know if i'm gonna have problems with rubbing and best tyre size? i was thinkin 225/40/17!

PukkaSilvia 30-06-2007 20:04

you need to know the offset to tell if you are going to have problems with rubbing.

215/40/17 toyo proxes would be a good choice:)

You could go wider than 215's on 8" rims. As above though the offset will determine a lot, although I'd wager that they'd be ok coming off an R33.

Are you about at work Tuesday afternoon? Might come up and get the front pipe after I land at Gatwick.

Beany-s12 01-07-2007 08:00

yeah i should be at work til bout half 6 tuesday! i'll pm u the address and post code!

PukkaSilvia 01-07-2007 09:54

Yes he can go wider than 215 wide but from experience It makes the drive boring, road feedback is numbed down and the steering is heavy and suffers alot from tramlining.

Getting a decent brand and compound of tyre is twice as important as the tread width

Beany-s12 01-07-2007 15:22

they've got 235's on then at mo and just thought a 215 might look a bit stetched on an 8" rim and a 235 is more likely to rub! just had a look and think the offset is 32!

PukkaSilvia 01-07-2007 16:32

ive got 205 wide tyres on 8j rims

i agree wid pukka goin too big will ruin everything n sideways action will be duller !!
ohh if any one wants tyres or wheels do let me knw a discount price to u lot off course!!

Beany-s12 03-07-2007 21:54

was cleanin the last 2 of my wheels today and noticed that 2 of them r 17x8 and 2 r 17x7!
so went to my mates where my car is and put the 3 with tyres on and fitted fookin perfect and fill the rear arches lovely! even the 235/45/17's on the back don't seem to catch on the body! tyres r way too big for the car really but they fit and i'm a bit skint at mo so they'll have to do til i can afford somethin more apropriate!
Mmmmmm toyo's

Beany-s12 04-07-2007 22:55

umpkin 08-07-2007 14:30

beany, has your m8 put the front spliter on right?? it looks a bit high at the front, could be just the angle of the pic, just looks "not quite right" in the pic, i hate to pick bits, but when you put in a lot of effort you like it to look right. :D

Beany-s12 08-07-2007 18:48

yeah i know! the bloke decided to put bolts through the splitter into the bumper to pull them together and it has pulled the front up abit:trout ! skirts have come out shite on 1 side too:trout :trout ! was gonna moan but he never charged me and i'm gonna c bout gettin the whole car blown over sometime this year so will try and get all rectified then!

s13eater 08-07-2007 19:10
