Uprated Steering rack bushes

Other than using 2 LHS ones from here:

http://www.driftworks.com/catalog/pr...ck-bushes.html

Does anyone know of any other bushes available?

If not, anyone interested in trying to get DW's to get their supplier to make a batch of LHS ones?

JackieFan 06-09-2007 17:51

http://www.mmr-direct.com list steering rack bushes for the S12 but I have no idea if they are the right animal or not. Plus they take quite a while to ship stuff and can be a pain in the arse to get hold of. I've not heard of people not receiving their stuff in the end though.

datdrift 06-09-2007 17:56

i need some badly..... if anyone orders any i'll have a set to save on shipping/ make the numbers up, etc

30psi 06-09-2007 18:08

Well DW's said that they couldn't sell 2 LHS ones idividually which I believe should do the job. However if we got enough of us for say 10 LHS's then maybe they'd be willing to contact their supplier.

Kimble had gripes with MMR, so yeh, they're a last resort

s13eater 06-09-2007 18:21

put me on the list for a pair, cheers.:)

30psi 06-09-2007 18:24

Correct me if I'm wrong then:

30psi - 1 set
Jackiechan - 1 set
Datdrift - 1 set
S13Eater - 1 set

JackieFan 06-09-2007 18:27

yeah count me in

s13eater 06-09-2007 18:28

cheers mart;)

doski 06-09-2007 19:19

i think i would take a set as well

the two bushes are different are they not?? so how would it work have 2 of the same bushes??

30psi 06-09-2007 23:07

Other than a locating tab on the driver side bush they're otherwise the same.

Obviously I will check that they will work (I have an S13 rack and subframe to compare)

lmrdave 07-09-2007 07:45

Not sure I really need them, but I'm happy to make up the numbers!

s13eater 07-09-2007 07:50

the bushes on the rack that i took off of my mk1 are different in the way that one is in 2 halves and the bracket is more pointed and the other bush is in a recess and in 1 piece.

doski 07-09-2007 08:01

i would have said they look the same as the s13 kit with lhs and rhs?

JackieFan 07-09-2007 09:03

If they are different then that counts me out.

30psi 07-09-2007 09:17

Well I'll leave it until I check whether both are the same size or not. Maybe the driver side one is slightly larger on the PAS rack?

s13eater 07-09-2007 09:52

i'll go and check for you in a min.

30psi 07-09-2007 10:03

Ok, get a pic if ya can

datdrift 07-09-2007 10:20

i just had a quick look at my old rack, and the bushes are different, the pass side one seems to just be a circle shape, while the drivers one is angled upwards a bit....pic might show what i mean......

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f8...t/IMG_1758.jpg

and one of my new rad;)

30psi 07-09-2007 10:24

Ah ok, that suggests that the S13 kit should work. Look the same shape to me.

If using a manual rack you would need 2 LHS bushes and clamps

Nice DB power rad there mate :)

datdrift 07-09-2007 10:28

i had a quick look on club-s12 last night, and they seem to think that the s13 ones are too thin?

they use some 'window weld' stuff which seems to be some kind of polyurethane paste which sets hard, they make a mould or summit.....they also fill their rear subframe mounts with it. not sure if we get a similar product over here?

30psi 07-09-2007 10:29

Yeh that stuff is called Flexane.

doski 07-09-2007 20:11

just need to find someone with a set of s13 bushes and see if they are the same or to thin, does anyone know how much a standard set are???

sideways danny 09-09-2007 14:14

standard s13 ones are about £11 each and can be bought individually
