they are quite cheap. I just got a pair of someon on hear for £15. They are about £18 each and takes about an hour to do each side if you have a press that is! They need pressing out of the bottom arm and then pressing back in
your local motor factors pcs keeps them in and is about 30seconds from your house.:D
i have no press....... any way u can do it at home? i cant spare the time either to take off the arm and take it to a garage! im fecked!
yeah but if you aint got an mot on it, then you can't drive it leagaly on the road;) .
true true! where did u say was the best place to have it done? and how much u reckon to get it pressed in?

and you will bring the arm and new joint in. |
just to reply about not being legal with a failed car on the road. im not triying to teach people to suck eggs i am an MOT tester. MOT laws state that you are covered to drive a defective vehicle (car that has failed mot) on the road providing that you are driving from or to place of repair or back to the mot test station where it was done as long as you have insurance you do not need a valid mot or tax.
a very helpful tip as this is law if you was going to pick up a car that is a distance away from your house that does not have tax or mot just book it in at you local MOT station as long as your insured on the car if the police pull you over you can state that you have picked the car up and are taking it for an mot they might be a bit miffed that you are driving quite a way ie 200 miles for instance but there is nothing they can do as you have insurance and are booked in for an mot lol the law is great:) |
was too late, no answer :( i'll pop into pcs tommorow morning,
i think we all know that, i've done that most years for the past 22 years:D , i mean't he's not leagal running about all over to and from work with know tax or text.
i have tax lol, but ur right i cant drive it to and from work, but at the mo i work nights and working upto 14 hours a day, 6/7days a week, so finding time to stip it off/sleep/get back to work is getting difficult
you need a spare offside arm and get a new ball joint get to the garage and let them put it in, then you will not be off the road.its only 30mins job to change the arm.
ok i'll get to it then!

cant say i remember pressing mine in and out
when mine failed the MOT i got a set for local motor facors, i tapped mine out quite easily with a club hammer after i took off the retaining circlip, luckily i didnt mash up the joint as the new ones didnt fit, were loose in the arm, so i have to get mine from nissan £120 per side :o
sadly mine prolly didnt fit due to the previous owner having alot of odds and sod done by mr rosenberg and his motley crew...... |
well i have one nice and shiny, new ball jont, getting it fitted tommorw! gota take the car to the garage to have it fitted tho :( the bolts on the arm wont budge, even with a pipe wrench, and i can find my axle stands any were!
