That would around about where you got your S12 from, and pretty much the same spot that the U11 was parked in when you saw it.

However, there wasn't much fuel in it when it was taken, and it was recovered Friday morning abandoned on the M62 where, no doubt, it ran out of gogo juice.

However, I unfortunately now have to pay the lovely garage that recovered it £105 for the privilege. Nice.

I have yet to see the vehicle, as it is being held pending an upcoming episode of CSI, (please can Sarah Sidle do it :D ) so I have no idea on the condition of it as yet. The garage has said that it appears to be just locks, "as it is an old car" so that could mean anything.

The fact that is was recovered on a motorway makes me think it had a specific destination, and wasn't robbed just to be thrashed around town by joyriders, so maybe that's a good thing, as it's most likely to not be in a bad condition (unless the twats didn't realise it had no power steering until half way thru the first corner.)

Anyway, hopefully all will be well, and thanks for the comments.

umpkin 01-03-2008 08:46

although it will cost you £105 its nice to have the feeling "they" didnt get it. really hope this garage is right with the "it just the locks" description of damage.

when the missus little motorbike got stolen/recovered, they said it was rideable. it was bearly pushable :( but this was a tilbury garage.

i think its a disgrace that the victim has to pay for the recovery, esp as you dont get a chance to recover it yourself.

glad you got it back though.

PukkaSilvia 01-03-2008 10:50

CA18ET engines love to be driven like you stole them

old-and-rusty 01-03-2008 11:41

That`s good news Neil :D .

It sounds like the car was stolen to order, if it was found on the motorway. It`s a shame the scum that took it didn`t get run over by a juggernaut, after abandoning it.

I wonder if there were any cameras on the motorway, they always seem to spot you when you are speeding  .

Hope the damage isn`t too bad.

Regards,
Ian.

PukkaSilvia 01-03-2008 12:00

i doubt very much it was stolen to order.its no porshe, you could buy one for a few hundred quid.. sounds like pikey kids who spent all there pocket money on puff the night before

hope it isnt in too bad condition when you get it back

As with most bluebirds, it's most likely stolen to be stripped for banger racing.

Oscar 01-03-2008 13:42

its good 2 hear u got it back matey, the thieving wankers i hope they get what they deserve!

PukkaSilvia 01-03-2008 16:07

oh right. Yes i didnt think about that.. They would make quite good banger racers:cool: Pretty strong big cars with decent power

30psi 01-03-2008 19:57

Well I'd be surprised a banger racer would bother stealing a fuel injected bluebird because they'd have to change it to a carb'd engine. They'd be better just nicking a 1.6 bluebird. Either way whoever did it is a bastard.

They aint that clever round 'ere mate, :p Probably couldn't tell the difference

old-and-rusty 01-03-2008 21:17

The estate where my sister used to live, had a thriving industry in second hand car parts. They used to pinch allsorts from Ladas to Minibuses. If the scum think they can make a few quid from stolen parts, that`s all they seem to care about  .

Hopefully the law will catch up with tw**s that took your car.

Regards,
Ian.

I sure hope so, as I am still awaiting forensics before I can even see the car.

It better be worth the wait, and the hundred notes I gotta shell out to get it back

PukkaSilvia 02-03-2008 00:39

You could be able to recover your costs from your insurance.

30psi 02-03-2008 01:22

Not worth putting it through the insurer as it would trigger a claim and you could effect NCB or future insurance quotes.

Have you told the insurer it was nicked? You need to be careful how you inform them it was recovered. They will put the info on a database known as MIAFTR (HPI and other car check firms use it). Firstly it would go on the database as stolen. Some insurers delay putting thefts on because its quite surprising how many stolen cars are found soon after the reported theft. Some people forget where they parked at Bluewater and assume their car was nicked lol. If you tell them it was found by police they will put 'recovered' on MIAFTR, but if you tell them you forgot where you parked it and you found it the next day chances are they won't submit any record to the database.

Reason I'm going on about this is for the sake of any future checks on your car, it would be good to avoid having stolen/recovered coming up for when you sell it.

zxocmars 02-03-2008 11:49

I doubt I could say I forgot where I parked it, as the neighbour that witnessed the theft has already given a statement to the police.

I already told the insurance that it has been recovered, and that I will be unlikely to be making a claim.

I'm not really that bothered about the stolen/recovered database, as I am unlikely to be selling the car anytime soon.

zxocmars 06-03-2008 16:05

Got it back today, but it don't look too good

Anyone got a spare gearbox knocking about to fit FWD Bluebird?

JackieFan 06-03-2008 16:35

How did they manage to do that?! :furious

They drove it like they stole it. :p

old-and-rusty 06-03-2008 20:01

That`s a pain in the arse :( . The door should hopefully bend back into shape and the wiring shouldn`t be too bad. But bloody hell, that box looks a mess.

Any news yet from the police ?

Regards,
Ian.

s13eater 06-03-2008 20:08

FUCKIN WANKERS

30psi 07-03-2008 14:31

Ian, not heard from the police yet, and they were supposed to have done it by Wednesday PM. If the g/box hadn't been shagged I'd have had the car locked away in my workshop by 1pm Thursday when they actually turned up.

So in the end had it transported to my home address later in the day (wallet another £40 lighter). Now sat outside covered in finger print dust.

If anyone local has a trailer or transporter I can borrow, or who can transport my motor to Wrexham I'd be much obliged.

old-and-rusty 07-03-2008 21:52

Sounds like the police are as quick as usual then :( .

Sorry can`t help with the transporter situation. I know a guy in Rochdale that`s really cheap, but by the time he`s travelled over to you, it would work out too expensive. Best thing to do is to ring around a few companies, most of them will try to beat each other on price, so you may manage to haggle the costs down a little (that`s what I did when I needed my s12 moving down to the Unit) :D .

Regards,
Ian.

zxocmars 07-03-2008 21:59

was pointed in the right direction bythe Ford Transit forum (Yes I have one, and yes I am a member :o )

http://www.recovery-owners-network.co.uk/

Found a guy on there that covers tha exact area I'm looking at. :D

I was lucky to get it shifted from St helens to Runcorn for £40 notes, TBH

It's good that people know people who know people who know people...

And a complete stranger at the recovery garage sorted that for me too, So big thanks to Steve at Bob Romes recovery centre :D

Oscar 07-03-2008 22:03

the total wankers, hope its fixed soon

Cheers mate

Bidding on a box on the bay ends in just over an hour, then it's just a case of getting the car to the workshop to get it fitted.
Seller also has an exedy clutch. so may make an offer for that too. Kill two birds etc......

umpkin 07-03-2008 23:16

this guy is bidding on his own listing. that other user kezhtn1 has bid on all his listing and past ones too. i know you desperatley need the box, but i would let him win his own auction and report him, and if he gives you second chance offer, knock him down a bit maybe.

you had enuf bad luck with out an ebay member shafting you too.

unless you are kezhtn1 :D

Thanks for the heads up with a minute to go. :)

Glad I left my email open

umpkin 07-03-2008 23:21

sorry only just saw the post, been done to me before so i always check.

zxocmars 07-03-2008 23:22

Won it at 35,

should I mail him and tell him that I request ebay to do a ISP search on kezhtn1 based on other bids???

umpkin 07-03-2008 23:26

depends on whether you want the box for £35, if you report him the listing may get nuled, and he will disapear, or if your happy with £35 then you could report him after. or get his address first, then mention the cross check, and see if he still wants to deal.

zxocmars 07-03-2008 23:27

Before you piped in,

I'd be happy to pay £35 plus the £50 diesel in the van to go get it

Now I have doubts if the bid has been artificially enchanced.

Is there any way I can prove the other "user" is the same without going thru Ebay?

umpkin 07-03-2008 23:40

no, dont think so

if your happy with £35 then get the box, then report him so he cant do it anymore.

if you report him now, if hes found to be doing the wrong, the listing will be cancelled. afaik

it could be genuine, maybe im too worried bout being ripped off so i automatically check, maybe i should have not said anything, i know i would want to know.

are these boxes that rare???

zxocmars 07-03-2008 23:45

I've e-mailed ebay to request a "shilling" check

I will advise the seller if he asks for payment.

I'd rather wait longer, than be robbed by someone

it aint like I'm short of a motor at the moment. :)

zxocmars 07-03-2008 23:46

funny how the "shill" user just bought a CA18ET engine and paid immediately and received feedback within seconds. Hmm???

umpkin 07-03-2008 23:48

i just hope im wrong, and you get the box you need. like i said, you had enuf bad luck, you dont need anymore that can be avoided.

if the seller asks, you can always say cash on collection. dunno how quick ebay act on this sort of thing, i would hope quick as its important.
