Performance figures?

Hi guys, I am a newbie to the forums, so sorry if this has been asked before.

Anyway, I am after an s12, I am just wondering what the standard performance figures are? IE: bhp and 0-60 time on a manual.

I'm looking to buy one and work it up to 200bhp ish or buy one that has already been tuned...... spotted a tasty looking one with a T28 and 195+bhp for sale soon, just wondering what kind of 0-60mph times I am looking at????

Thing is I am selling my Volvo T5 auto, which is pretty nippy, but I am hoping a manual Silvia will be a bit more fun to drive and a bit more pokey too. :D

0-60 is basically 8 secs standard. 200bhp would see a low 6 second 0-60. Strip it out and you could get a high 5 I reckon. But you would need a proper meter to time it.

wow, pretty fast as standard then...... Should be just as good as the T5, which is 7.5 to 60 on the autobox I believe

hope I can find a good one now!

my old mk1 did 5.4 secs to 60mph, that was on 23psi,which was low boost, that was timed properly on rockinham track, and the car weighed in at 1240kg with all that bodykit on.so i should imagine that it could of done a sub 5sec to 60mph on high boost (32psi) and if it was stripped out.

 Sounds like a real type-R basher..... RWD to boot, watch me crash it within the first week of ownership...... never driven a RWD before, except an Omega when I was learning to drive!

Got mine on the rolling road this Tues will post results up.

T5 intercooler
standard T2 pushing 12PSI
boost valve
K+N
Colder plugs (NGK 7's I think)
Elec Fan + Kenlowe controller
Quickshift
Safety Valve Removed + Blocked off
lowered, 17's yadi ya

good luck with the rr i should expect it to be around 160-170hp

depending on if you have modified the exhaust
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I shouldnt think you will crash it even though its your first RWD. There quite forgiving in there handling setup and are biased to understeer rather than oversteer in a normal harsh driving environment and driving style

wacomuk 03-03-2008 19:25

i could never get a good 0/60 in mine because it wouldnt hit 60 in second gear

30psi 03-03-2008 19:28

Yeah you have to take it right round to the limiter to just break 60.

Of course the best thing to do is the quarter mile. Get a good judge of everything then.

Rolling Road results were given in Kw but the guy converted it into english for me:

165BHP

367lbft Torque

It has a very flat power curve and the guy said it was spot on, he wanted to up the boost and said it would take more than the 10psi I'm already pushing.

Told him to leave it as its the original T2 and has 20yrs on its back.

well chuffed to say I threw it together myself.

Next step T25?????:D :D :D

paulsilv 05-03-2008 21:41

Don't know if that torque reading is right???

thats what it says on the read-out but it seems very high to me?

s13eater 05-03-2008 21:53

naah paul, it would not reach that sort of torque with that sort of power mate, mine was 325lbs of torque at 305bhp.

paulsilv 06-03-2008 19:57

Thought it was wrong, don't know what has happened there then.

Will check the figures on the read out, post up and get everyones thoughts on the results.

(Anyone selling a nice T25 and bits to fit???)
