Have a nice lil chat with shaun in traffic, pull round the corner, and crack! Goes my windscreen, so im pissed of, but wait, my missus works for RAC auto windscreens, so she brings it up on the compy..... Feb 08 no longer available! Aparently they dont do them any more! Just great!

s13 screen is the same as the silvia
can't you get it on your insurance ?
gota pay excess, 250quid!
is it possible to fit one yourself?
how did it crack ?
stone i belive, and due to the fact it had no support from below, i mite just break it for parts .... I just cant aford to keep spending hundreds on it every month.
sorry to hear that oscar, but if its rotten, you best cut your losses, i only gave £300 for mine and apart from a shitty zorst and the wings not being 100%, but the rest is solid, what will you go for now ?
missus wants a new car like a jazz, or micra, i want to import a silvia rs-x, but prolly an engineless s14 or r32 as i have an engine...
i did look into it with s13 screen, but, i was waiting on an owner that had access to both screens to do a comparison, but they just didnt have the time to check this for us (i know how he feels tbh :D )
i had an s12 one put in cost me £160 fitted http://www.nissansilvia.co.uk/vbb/showthread.php?t=2631 this has the part numbers from budget windscreens, they do fitting all over the country, mine was rusty at the bottom of the screen, the fitter just filled it with the sealant, and told me that should be more or less just as strong. |
its a lil bit more than rusty, theres a hole i can put my arm thru down bhind the dash and the rest of the scutle panel is held together with hamerite. And its rotted thru behind the headlites...
i mite buy a bluey and attempt the silvia front end!
I was looking at fitting the screen from the 200sx that I bought into the s12 (cos the screen in my s12 has started to delaminate). The s12 screen is the same height but at least 2 inches narrower though :( .
Regards, Ian. |
thought so :(

adz had an s13 screen fitted to his s12.
so i say they fit. |
I measured the S13 to be wider by a few inches too:

Autoglass told adz that they couldnt get him a s12 screen but have managed to fit an s13 one. I think someone else on here has one fitted though too. Its on an old thread. Unless autoglass have there part numbers mixed up it seems a bit odd. I cant imagine mk1 and mk2 s12s to have different screens but thats the only other option
The screens are definately different sizes, I don`t know if the mk1 and mk2 screens are different. The 200sx I have is the facelift model and my s12 is a mk1, I`ve got the two cars side by side in my Unit.
It is possible that Autoglass have the wrong codes or that the screens from mk1 and mk2 s12`s are different, as well as the screen sizes from pre and post facelift 200`s. Hope that makes sense...LOL....;) . Regards, Ian. |
I measured it against a mk2.
Looks like Autoglass may have got things mixed up then  .
I must admit, the two screens I have do look similar, until you get the tape measure out ;) . Regards, Ian. |
ok. nevermind lol. seems im talking bollox.i wonder if its worth trying some other windscreen companies .they may still be able to supply them or at least might have some old stock. call brummy gary at autoglass lol.
I wouldn`t worry about it Jon :D . I`ll be looking for a new screen for mine eventually, so it would have been good if I could have used the s13 screen.
Quite a few parts seem to be wider compared to our s12`s, including the bonnet. I`m in the process of modifying the s13 dash to fit my s12 at the moment, just got to change the mounting brackets now, but it does look good on the trial fit. Took me a while to alter it though ;) . Regards, Ian. |
