Power Steering.

Ok, i don't think i have power steering on my S12 because it really is heavy.

Now i dont know the first thing about power steering or how it works!
Can anyone explain to me, what i need to do and understand to add PAS?

And does anyone have what i need for sale?

s13eater 17-05-2008 00:34

if yours is a manual fj20 rack then i'll do you a swap for my power rack.

ov_lozza 17-05-2008 00:42

see if yours has a power steering pot on the top of the passenger side strut tower, if so , follow the pipes that come off of it to the rack, it should have oil lines to it as well, about the same size as brake pipes, near where the steering column attaches if i remember right.

PukkaSilvia 17-05-2008 10:53

There is not many that dont have power steering about, Take a picture of your engine bay and post it up

ov_lozza 17-05-2008 12:33

s13eater 17-05-2008 14:51

pasr

wacomuk 17-05-2008 14:51

from that pic you dont have power steering

s13eater 17-05-2008 14:53

i have found you all the strut parts out, i did have them after all.

s13eater 17-05-2008 15:47

is'nt there any power steering pump either?, that would be attached to the engine at the side of the air flow meter pipe, i wonder if the power racked fecked up and its just been loped together, i bet this would made it harder than a manual rack.

PukkaSilvia 21-05-2008 23:09

Thats pretty shit club relations KMS. This and your last thread are just bad mannered. I wont bother helping you out when you need help in the future. I took time putting cam timing scans in for you and got no acknoledgement or thanks. And to ignore and go behind another member to get a sale or buy is also our of order.
It has been noted on your member details.

Yes, this is very poor club regulations, I agree, Jon.

I've re-opened the thread because it's a very useful topic of discussion. I myself had a non PAS S12 (FJ) and at the time hadn't a clue how to convert it. Perhaps Loz would be good enough to finish the thread in time so others can gain information.

However, I fully back Jon's comments regarding kms poaching a "done deal". I would ask all involved in this not to comment further on it in this thread. Let's keep the club fair and square.

Laura - over to you to finish your thread.

ov_lozza 23-05-2008 23:24

Thanks Rich, i'll update the thread once i've done the swap or if anyone has any tips they'd be appreciated!! :)

RichardK 23-05-2008 23:30

That's cool :)

I always thought it would be a fairly straight forward job so will be nice to see what comes of it!

R.

PukkaSilvia 23-05-2008 23:31

Be carefull you dont step on dr silvias toes rich:rolleyes:

RichardK 23-05-2008 23:37

Don't worry Jon, he's got steel capped boots :D

30psi 24-05-2008 00:28

OK IGNORE ME, I thought it was the other way round... You'll like the power steering, if you dont like the manual rack

have you heard of the phrase, its no use locking the stable door when the horse has bolted ! but its ok to re_open the thread because what, lets take a stab in the dark, 1, your letting your johnson rule you, or 2, its only that moaning old bastid again, if he gets shit on it does'nt matter, or 3 you thought you would score some point with her on the very minute chance that you would actually go to jae, bump into her, do some of your smooth talking, offer her some of your sweets that the school children have'nt eaten, then give her what 4.

ov_lozza 24-05-2008 00:48

haha you guys have got wild imaginations!! What can guys and girls not be mates nowdays?

I was chatting to him on MSN and happened to mention i found it strange my thread was closed because of one persons comments even though i may well need your help with this power steering thing again.

I really hope this doesnt reflect badly on me simply because rather than buying someone's offered parts i instead do a straight swap with kms which costs neither of us money

Maybe you people aren't used to girls being on this forum, if its the case that im going to be treated like this every time i ask for help and get help or replies then i might aswell log off now! :(

s13eater 24-05-2008 01:00

i did put i would do a straight swap on my first reply for your fj rack with my power rack and i was going to give you those rear shocks as well,i have got a rack already off of the car, i had advertised for a manual rack months ago as i can't use power steering because of the external oil pump that i'am using.

as i said, i never said anything about selling anything, i said swap.

ov_lozza 24-05-2008 01:06

Ok, thats my bad, i must have missed or forgotten that you wanted a swap, but to be fair it'd be much more complicated and i'd probably have to end up asking you to swap it for me as im guessing you dont live close to me and kms doesnt live far from me.

I'm sorry i didnt reply sooner about the items but i've been quite busy lately.

It just got my back up a bit that my thread was closed, without even a polite pm from admin to explain especially as i'd done nothing wrong, and i resent it even more that i get it thrown back at me, that people are only helping me because im a girl?? thats not exactly welcoming and not in keeping with what i thought was a friendly forum.

Sorry for any inconvinience, i shall try to find information elsewhere.

Well to be honest I thought it was odd that this thread was closed as it was no fault at all of the seller but was the moderators arguing. Similar situation.

As for you being a girl, I don't think this has anything to do with it, and if anyone believes thats the case I'm sure they are at cross purposes. So don't worry, just stay.

RichardK 24-05-2008 20:52

I seem to remember from my FJ that the manual steering wasn't as bad as expected. Just had to turn the steering wheel lots more times to get to the same place!

Definitely prefer PAS tho!

:D

PukkaSilvia 25-05-2008 12:34

If you have a problem Pm me.

I do not need to pm you before i lock a thread as I closed this thread for a reason,it closed before the arguements Started ....

...........and i shall do it again.

THREAD CLOSED.
