:) i just wondered what brake set up have you got on your blue bird ? could i use it on the s12 ? and have you any pics ? cheers.

30psi 12-11-2008 11:54

Well I'm using S13 hubs and coilovers with Z32 calipers.

But I'm then using BMW M3 discs.

The kits here provides re-drilled discs (315, 330, 345mm) and brackets for use with the Z32/S14 calipers or larger wilwood calipers:

cheers mart.is it the s13 track rod ends you use ? and how much needs machining off of them ?

30psi 12-11-2008 12:05

They were about an inch and half too long I think. I'm using Tein ones though which are thicker, which I assume are the same length to start off with

s13eater 12-11-2008 12:13

do you still use the s12 arms with ball joint ? and what tie rods do you use ? other than the track rod ends is it a faifly staight forward job ?

30psi 12-11-2008 12:17

Well I used 910 arms with ball joints, but yeah you'd use S12 arms.

Tie rods are standard ones.

Other than the track rods, it's a bolt in job. Datsun was harder because the top's are a much different bolt pattern

s13eater 12-11-2008 12:21

what sort of price am i looking at for s13 hubs and front coilovers ? then i suppose i have to get new wheels, could i change the rears to 5 stud ? i think i'd be looking at z31 rear arms.

30psi 12-11-2008 12:25

I'd say £30 for the hubs. A complete set of coilovers will be about £250-300. There should be many available because a few people have been upgrading to the new Driftwork coilovers.

My mate is going to do 5 stud on his S12. He already has the Z31 rear. He's just slow as arseholes as actually doing anything. Of course you'd just use s14 hubs instead on the front.

A simple engine change has taken 2.5 years so far.

s13eater 12-11-2008 12:29

are the s14 front hubs a straight fit like the s13 front hubs then ? so i'd just get the s14 hubs and coilovers ! what about track rod ends s13 or 14 ? cheers.

30psi 12-11-2008 12:36

You're best to check on SXOC what the S13 people do to fit the S14 hub. Something comes to mind about having to use the S14 ball joint on the lower arm.

probley best i just use the s13 set up then, if i can use the s12 lower arms then it will be less messing around.

CamInHead 12-11-2008 18:01

Hey I'm glad these questions were put-up as it's just what I needed to know.

So is the reae fairly straight forward with Z31 parts ? WHat have you guys been using ?

s13eater 19-11-2008 18:41

anyhow mart, hows your project going, any updates ?

30psi 19-11-2008 18:44

Square root of fuck all. I've been distracted by another car I bought and generally been very lazy.

Haven't got a great deal left to do. Probably a weeks solid work would clear most of the things I need to do.

Diff is built up, shafts aren't done yet, engine is built, but needs valve clearances doing, manifolds fitting, water oil lines etc and then it's ready to drop in.

Then I need an exhaust and intercooler piping made up

s13eater 19-11-2008 18:49

 what diff and shafts are you using ? would it fit the s12 or is it top secret lol, have you any pics to put up of the project ?

30psi 19-11-2008 18:53

One of the engine

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...4112008177.jpg

I'm using an S15 diff inside an S12 case. I have 2 sets of 280zx driveshafts. Now if I was using an S13 VLSD I could use the 2 short 280zx shafts in exactly the same way as you would with an S12.

But, with the S15 diff you have to use both the S15 inner shafts (not one like you can with the S13 diff), so whilst I can make one up with the shorter shaft, I will need to get a special short one made.

s13eater 19-11-2008 20:21

 keep us updated.

30psi 19-11-2008 23:34

s13eater 24-12-2008 18:23

 when are you fitting it ? and what are you using on the fuel system ?

30psi 24-12-2008 18:25

I'm going to the states from tomorrow for 2 weeks, so sometime after I come back I think.

Fuel system is likely to be parallel walbro's in the tank and I have a Sard pressure reg.

s13eater 24-12-2008 18:27

sound job, i've ordered mine from deamon tweeks 3 weeks ago but they are coming from the states, so still waiting.:(

30psi 24-12-2008 18:29

What ya gonna use?
