Central Locking
Is there a fuse or fusable link somewhere for the central locking as I can't see one in the fuse box and mine has given up the ghost.
S12s have central locking ?!
No, it will only be an aftermarket fitment
Definitely a factory fit every S12 I've been in has had it. And in the manual it shows a lock up control unit located in the door. There must be a fuse somewhere of some sort, a fuse blowing would be my first port of call when something like this stops working.
i've had 2 with central locking, but non have ever worked lol.
as far as im aware there all aftermarket aswell. strip the door cards off and trace everything back,
i was also under the impression that they never came with central locking 2 of mine never had it and if they did i wouldnt have fitted a annoying alarm to control remote central locking....
It wouldn't surprise me if it was an option but it's definitely a factory fit on my car.
How are you so sure its a factor fit?
The central locking operates the same as on my Sunny ie on the driver's door only if it was an aftter market thing I would expect it to work off both doors and a blipper. As also mentioned eveery other S12 I've been in has had the same type of centeral locking as well.
I reckon that they were dealer fit in that case. Out of all the S12's I've been in, the only ones to have it had been fitted by the owners.

the lock up control unit dont have anything to do with central locking, according the the wiring diagram, its part of the cruise control system A.S.C.D (Automatic Speed Control Device) that looks to have only been fitted to Austrailian models.
there is no wiring diagram for central locking. with regards to it only operating from drivers door, the fitter chooses if one or both front doors open it, there are 2 sense wires they may have been left unconnected so it only open on drivers side. on the after market locking systems there is normally an inline fuse before the little black box, or now might even be in the side of the black box. the box is most likely located behind the dash somewhere as they only give enuf wire for it to be there. i have a set at me mums waiting to be fitted, and the dash is where thats going. i would say best bet would be to find the C-locking wires as they come out the door, and follow them to the box, and then the red wire from there should have the fuse in it (normally red wire). Hopes this helps some. |
Looks like it maybe a lose connection as it worked today just the once though then packed up again.
