engine wont start

hi every one....... i am new to this and i wanna get things right i have been told that i can get help here well here goes

i bought a s12 1989 shape and it was misfiring........it has mods such as t28 turbo front mount intercooler a fifth injector:confused:

now when i bought it the engine would misfire very badly and me like a geniuse drove it for 117 miles :illboy

the car then died out and would not start i have changed the battery new plugs new ht leads and still nothing

i need help big time to get my car started any ideas........?

irish s12 22-02-2010 02:11

Has it got sparks?

Raas_s12 22-02-2010 11:51

yes i have also changed the spark plugs.......i am a bit lost now.

do a compression check as the 5th injector might have burnt out the valves as usually they are more hassle then they are worth.

Raas_s12 22-02-2010 12:46

ok will do is there any thing else i can do jus to have a list of things because the car is in manchester and im in leicester and i will be going there very soon to do the work.

the 5th injectors are usually on a pressure switch, se nissan used a metro oil pressure switch that came on far to early, 5psi if i remember correctly, this would probably bore wash.

hi s13eater

im may siund a little blonde here mate but what does bore wash mean? and do you think i sould get rid of the fifth injector?

the 5th injectors can supply to much fuel, this will wash the protective lair of oil off of the bore, leaving metal to metal, you need to get it running and then set up on a rolling road and check the afr ratio.

its probs either spark, fuel or compression.
As you have spark then its one of the other two.

It could be a faulty fuel pump,
faulty imobiliser to pump if ones been put in,
faulty fuel pressure regulator
severe boost leak from an intake pipe

thanks a lot for the info guys....i jus wanna say that i have fuel and spark so now its going down to compression........if there is loss of compression what can i do next?

PukkaSilvia 24-02-2010 14:39

Replace the head gasket or pistons/rings or valves/valve seats depending on what the cause is

Do a test yourself with a compression test kit(get from halfords if need be)

Post up your results.
