Not starting

I've just changed the head gasket first off I have a wire that I don't know where it goes, excuse the quality as it was taken on my phone it's the wire hanging over the top hose.

Where does this go or is it spare?

Secondly I have fuel, a spark and the engine turns over but it won't start anybody have any suggestions?

s13eater 13-06-2010 19:15

is it your temp gauge wire?

Ronin 13-06-2010 20:39

I fit is where does it go? It's got me stumped as I can't find anywhere to plug it in.

Dr Silvia 13-06-2010 21:59

theres a single male spade facing the sky to the left of the top hose.

Ignition or cam timing maybe.

Are you sure you put the Dizzy in one tooth back as if you didnt it will be 5 degree's out and wont start

Thanks I probably couldn't see it for looking.

Ronin 14-06-2010 16:29

I don't think it's the timing as I checked it a number of time while putting it back together and I didn't remove the dizzy from the head so I don't think that would of moved independently. But I expect I'll be rechecking it all again.

PukkaSilvia 14-06-2010 21:16

do another compression test. :)

irish s12 15-06-2010 02:40

If you left the dizzy on then did you get it skimmed?
Have you checked to make sure you have sparks and fuel?

Ronin 29-08-2011 14:32

Having left this for a while due to other projects I'm still having trouble starting as before, fuel, spark and the engine turns over but won't fire, yes the timing is correct.
Any help appreciated.

tim murphy 29-08-2011 15:16

is the engine turning over fast or slow i.e check out earth . cheers ;)

Ronin 30-08-2011 16:09

I think it's a bad earth but I'm buggered if I can find it.

tim murphy 30-08-2011 21:26

i wound go with coil earth first and back track .;) keep on it . cheers.

PukkaSilvia 02-09-2011 10:37

fuel
spark
compression
cam timing
ign timing
