PsychoS12 goes to Bedford Autodrome
Took the Silvia to Bedford Autodrome on 11th December - she did the two hour drive there, a day spent looning round the track, and the two hour drive home with no problems.
http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/4...31exposure.jpg Put a grin on my face all day! http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/3...87exposure.jpg So I've now booked up to go again on the 28th of March - be good to see another Silvia there! Happy New Year to all! Austen |
Looks good. Will be on for me but I think it'll take longer than march :(
|
that s12 is really tidy.
|
Cheers Pukka.
Anyone know how accurate the speedos are on Silvias? We had it off the clock going down the main straight.:D Got another day booked at Bedford on the 28th March. Thinking about doing the one day driving course at Car Limits at North Weald - anyone know if it's any good? Thanks Austen |
with 225/45/17'S on, mine was reading 7mph over compared to the road angel, i'd say on std rims about 6 to 9 mph out, i know i clocked 127mph so 120mph when my foot went to the floor and my breaks failed  and i was only about 70 meters from a roundabout.

I really like. Can you drop me a pm by chance? I would like to look into doing a bit on your car. The colours are just great. I cannot wait to get on the track later this year.

March 28th
Drove to Bedford Autodrome yesterday morning.......
.......came home on the back of a lorry! :( BUGGER!!! |
what happend mate ?
|
Bad day....you get as far as the Autodrome? Or even better the track?
|
Running again...but a bit rough (no change there then!)
Drove all the way to the autodrome, and got out a fair few times in the morning - got some VERY sticky road legal tyres on, so heavy braking was no problem, tyres warmed up very quick and stuck like glue - big grin all morning.
After lunch, fired her up, waiting in the pits to be waved out and the engine just cut out, and then refused to start (don't worry Stu, didn't crash it!). No power to the plugs, injectors etc. Engine turning over fine, so assumed it was electrical fault - but just couldn't work out what. Got it home on a flatbed that evening. Bro spent Monday tinkering, and we "think" we've fixed it - would you believe it seems to be just a loose earth strap? Engine now fires up, but I've still to take it out on the road to check it out. When I've got the pics through I'll post some up, For anyone nervous about doing a track day, I would seriously recommend Bedford Autodrome. I've been with Javelin Track Days twice now, and even with this set back it was a enjoyable day. Cheers Austen |
glad you got it sorted matey :)
|
then l see your S12 and picture on the race track , so l what så bad to drive my S12 on Gotland Ring here in Sweden :p
|
I had exactly the same problem engine turning over but not starting and that turned out to be a bad earth.
|
A few pics
Turns out it wasn't just a dodgy earth - still investigating (or rather, my brother is as it was recovered to his house), could be the ECU, or just the crank sensor, or something we haven't thought of yet!
