s12's at mod/nash

i had a good time this weekend:D , chaffed me nads walking up and down in the sun:o , it was good to see our cars around the track, oval and 1/8th of a mile, we put in some respectable times, then japster (den), pukka and duncan, well they thrashed around the oval and also the circuit. rich k's car suprised us with just a t25 and mostley bolt on mods and a slippin clutch, he put in some good 0-60 times, i'am sure he will post up his graph for us,i myself forgot my licence, so i had to call upon my 2 newley employed racing drivers, pukka and my eldest daughters other half, the fastest time my s12 achieved was 0-60 in 5.41 secs and 9.380 secs for the 1/8th of a mile, there was still more to come as it was'nt on full boost:D i'am not sure on the exact times for den's beast, but i know that den, lorna and there friend tom gave it a good thrashing down the 1/8th,i'am sure he will put his graphs up for us,especially lorna's 5 odd second run will a shift from 1st to 2nd that sounded quicker and smoother than any auto box;) anyhoo enough from me as i'am knackerd,i'll upload some pics soon.

the lump in the tent is pukka:D after someone took the poles outi dont know who , do you RICH ? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../camppukka.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ter/pukka2.jpg

RichardK 05-06-2006 12:45

Christ, fancy taking the poles out of someone's tent. Don't know anyone who'd do a thing like that.

I managed a 0-60 in 6.7 seconds with the clutch slipping badly in first. I also need to improve my gear change speeds as I seem to take 0.5 seconds to change

Excellent weekend though, the track is very addictive. I'll always be on the track from now on. Once I get bigger brakes of course lol

Thank you to everyone who turned up to make it a worthwhile event. Also very well done to Duncan and his other half who made it all the way from Ireland just for the event.

The photos and videos page will be done as soon as Dr Silv manages to send me the files (taking a while over msn lol).

:D

Impressive times by the looks of it, rich what boost are you running atm?

was good to put faces to some of the names around here:) now if i can just get silvia to jae...

s13eater 05-06-2006 13:53

i thought there was a problem on the way home last night, the car did not feel as responsive as it should, so i could not settle, i went out and checked things over, it turns out my son had turned the gain down to 3% so the turbo was not spooling up fast enough or hitting high enough boost:( , so i think it could have been a lot quicker.;)

Yep - Was a GREAT weekend! - A few downers, notably after getting my new clutch fitted by a qualified mechanic, putting 200 miles on it before the event in order to run it in, the new one still seemed to be slipping on the 0-60's / 1/8 mile (However, on the track it seemed fine, or maybe less noticable...) - Definitely down on power though, so have rang Simon to arrange dropping the car down for a check and tune-up...

Still, I got a 5.58 0-60 (which is crap for what the car can do), and an 1/8th mile of 9.548 (I think - will check and amend if it's wrong!) - So Shaun's beast got the fastest times of the day (with more to be got from it given enough runs)...

Lorna (Wifey) got 5.77 secs, and as Shaun mentions, the gearchange is damn near invisible, but kept letting off the power before the end of the 1/8th - Give the girl more time, and she'll be getting better times than us blokes methinks!

Had a couple of wicked runs on the track - that is one seriously good track, and has loads of turns, including a hairpin and a 90 degree'r - Fantastic! - Only downside was that I had a couple of muppets in Cosworth's  who slowed me down and wouldn't let me through, and I had to keep dropping back just to get a decent run - Then on the last lap, my turbo to intercooler hose split  , and I had to come off... One quick purchase later, we were back on for 0-60's - all good fun...

Was good to see Shaun (complete with the Chesterfield Posse (aka Stella and't kids!), along with Pukka and Dr. Silvia again, and was amazed to see that Richard K. was a) alive, and b) attending despite his clutch - good show Rich.... :D

Roll on the next event - Will definitely be looking out for Rockingham track days in future I think... :D

Well done for organising it on our side Pukka - much appreciated... :D

s13eater 05-06-2006 14:17

yes twas a damn fine weekend, cheers jon for hassling me in to turning up;) and jon, get your bloody hands washed:D ;) . oh now i see where the tomato sauce disappeared to rich, you filthy bugger.

PukkaSilvia 05-06-2006 19:00

Yep it was a great weekend. I really enjoyed the track time even though my car was seriously unwell, It handled great with the new wheels and tyres. It was the first time i had driven it hard round bends since grinding the rear arches out properly. The brakes were spot on on the circuit but on the oval they boiled the fluid after a few laps with the chicanes.

I am going to make a fuel surge tank before i do another circuit and fit a new t3 and downpipe along with new hosing when it arrives,

It was good seeing everyone. i enjoyed myself even though i was covered in oil by sunday lunch time.

I look forward to seeing all the videos and pictures once Dr_Silvia has sent them to Rich. His net connection was playing up earlier today so it all got a bit held up.

FAO den. Id like to see the video you got of my car on the oval if you can get it small enough to email Richard. If not do not worry.

Thanks for turning up. It was a nice weekend break in the sun for me

umpkin 05-06-2006 19:27

always enjoy seeing the pic and vids that come out of these events, the vid clip you want to see, what format is it in???
if you want i should be able to avi-divx it, i can open an ftp folder for direct upload (thus no need for email) if i get it small enuf (less than 30meg) i can host it on my BY webspace for a while if need be. or small enuf to email on to this sites files storage.

just let me know and ill give a link to the ftp account

No problem Pukka - I've got a fair bit of footage now from both events, and will try to put it through a DVD Recorder for posting to you! - Tried the other day, but we've lost the lead that goes from the camcorder to A/V out (like an earphone socket) - We've got one from another camcorder, but it doesn't work ... :(

I'll have to check through the footage, but the tape ended and rewound without my knowing, and we've recorded over some earlier footage! - D'oh! - including some from Avon... :trout

Will check what's on the tape, and let you know mate...

Nice webdesign Richard. It makes a good read. I will definately be going to it again next year. I look forward to jae now. My cars bodywork will be spot on for the next one( its changing colour completely with a new metalflake in 2 1/2 weeks)and my boost hose arrived this morning. I guess tracking viper performance down at the show kicked there arse into gear :D

Is everyone else interested in doing this again next year too?

duncan 06-06-2006 22:11

hey all. had a fantastic weekend at rockingham. track action was mental even though i lost my brakes after a couple of laps on the oval:eek:
i must appoligise for the behaviour of two of the people i brought with me to the event. i had no idea they caused trouble on the stand when the cars were being parked. i am sorry for any offence caused and assure all of you it will never happen again.
i hope the tent was ok for pukka and dr silvia on sat nite. we are definitely up to going to the event next year and will do our very best to be at jae next month:D

Didnt know of any trouble......

Yep great to see you both, Your car looked 100 times better with the new respray in toyota blue.. from when i last saw it at jae when it was in black. Thanks for lending the spare tent too, even though someone pulled the peggs out on me in the early hours of the morning :) .
See you at jae if you can manage the journey. Its just down the road from Rockingham so you should still remember the route vagely

s13eater 07-06-2006 08:45

i'll be up for it:D i was'nt aware of any trouble neither:confused: , just a pity the security people where not organised properly and where complete knob's, a bit of a rip off not being able to sit up in the stands and watch the center track:mad: , after all it cost us enough money, being one of the most expensive events i've been to:( , anyhoo, i bet you thought that all was going well me not having a moan:D lol, i know japster was very peeved with how much he had shelled out for the vip tickets to:( , anyhow all in all i enjoyed it.

s13eater 07-06-2006 20:58

no i mean't all in all with track time, eg: limited to 80mph, oval had tyers in 2 places to slow ya down, they are only minor glitches, but it was just the way the security spoke to everyone and did not let us on to the stands to watch the center track, den's wife lorna gave him an earful and i don't blame her, he was a total knob, 2 foot six, mouthy twat, that liked to hear his own voice, mouthin off cos he had a yellow security vest on, the sort off bloke that ends up with a few broken bones after he's had a go at the wrong person on a night out:D nowt wrong with the weekend other than that;)

s13eater 08-06-2006 07:59

rich, there are some goods pics mate, but what did you do to some of those girls, they look terrified:D

hmmmmm yeh true. maybe i shouldn't have got me knob out quite so soon

p.s. - i agree with shaun - security were unhelpful, ignorant w*nkers.

Lol! - Couldn't have said it better myself! - Nope (£10 - £5 extra remember) was STILL a good price to see that kind of action - it was HOT!!!

However, I agree with Shaun - even I had a go at one bloke who was being a little Hitler - I think we should def. voice our concerns to the organisers regarding the marshals and lack of helpfulness/knowledge of even the basics (where to sign in, why we aren't allowed on the stands, etc) - The guys in the pit/paddock area were great in comparison, and one even let Lorna stand virtually trackside in the paddock... - I'd be interested to know if the other tw*ts were Flux' employed bodies in dayglo, but they didn't even seem to give a toss, or take the slightest interest in, the sheer amount of drool-worthy metal and track action, drifting etc going on?!?! - (although they obviously took interest in the titties being flung in every direction... at least, some of them did...)

That one tw*t Lorna had a go at did it at the awesome drifting spectacle, even going so far as to get in the way of what little footage I'd managed to take... complete pr*ck... (and Shaun's right - he was a jumped-up little midget with an attitude problem - Either that or some muppet blindly following orders...)

PS - there were THREE bloody chicanes on that track, and a final less sharp one at the end of the finish straight, the 3 b*stard ones required such severe braking that by the end of my session my brakes had pretty much gone - and they said it was for safety?!?! - I think it'd've been safer to bloody let me cane it - after all, it's a bloody SPEED track... :trout

On a final note - despite all this, I'd DEF. go again, if only for the National track and possibly a wee bit more perving at the furry cup drinking session... :1la :D

Yep - We keep telling you to go see a doctor Rich! - Open sores are nature's way of telling you to get it looked at pronto, and they shouldn't really be green either mate!... :p

No wonder those girlees looked scared! :D

Hmmm... Maybe you shoulda lobbed it out at Security instead?... That'd have got the b*stards out of our faces... LOL! :D

30psi 08-06-2006 18:03

I went to Mod Nats 1st event in 2003 and thought it was some chavvy shite. Any event that has some ICE competitions needs to be avoided in my opinion.

Its best to keep the events seperate in my opinion so that they concentrate on one thing.

Thats why there is specific track days where you're allowed to do whatever with exception of overtaking on bends and some other small rules.

If you want to see vaginas and the like may i suggest going to an event specifically designed for that purpose. I would suggest a trip to the Shoresditch area to Browns, Ye Olde Axe or Metropolis.

Simple heh!

s13eater 08-06-2006 18:25

japster, i wonder if you could do with some decent pads, as you have briaded front hoses dot 5 fluid and 4 pot calipers, perhaps get those rear hoses fitted and decent pads, i'am also going to see about getting some brake master cylinder braces made up, they are about £60-£80 from cusco, i bet they can be made up for next to nothing.;) i don't know if they do a great deal, but owts worth a try.:)

duncan 08-06-2006 19:48

no problem wit the tent pukka. ye all looked after us at jae last year with food and all.
the plan is to bring my two silvias to jae:cool: but the only problem is its on the weekend before i get my holidays which means an all night drive to get there and an early start on sunday to get home as we have to be back for work on the monday:( :furious . i'll keep you posted.
if we cant make it we'll definitely be over for trax in the autumn:D

Sounds good mate - Def be interested in sorting any extra braking ability out, but even as it stands, she's MILES better with the 4-pots! - I read (on a commercial site - APEX I think) somewhere that the slave cylinders for brakes on the S12's/S13's are cheap, and suggested to be replaced when doing a full brake conversion (though being a commercial site, I obviously take this advice with a pinch of the proverbial!... :D

Do yer stuff Shaun mate - I'll be glad (as always) to reap the benefits of your missions to making the right stuff fit... :D

Was good to see you guys there Duncan - That's a great Silvia you've got there, and the quality of the paint job was (to my untrained eye at least) superb!...

Hopefully you got your brakes sorted out in the end!

s13eater 08-06-2006 22:27

will do den, i though my gearbox had shot it last night, it was difficult to get into second gear,so as a last resort i changed the clutch fluid and bled it and now it working even better:D .

duncan 10-06-2006 17:23

thanks den. nice to meet ye there too. i'm well chuffed with the paint considering the state it was in. got a bit of a brake pedal back in it but i'm going to order some brake lines and fit my 4 pots soon. is there any particular part numbers i should ask for?

Yep -She's looking nice indeed! - As for part no's - Shaun (S13Eater) is the man to talk to mate! - He gave me all the info I needed, and pointed me towards the suppliers of his custom made brake lines! (Oh, and erm, fitted the lot for me! - The man's a star!)... :D

s13eater 10-06-2006 23:13

yep matey's, just ask for brake hoses 2 inch longer than the s12's on the front, tell him you want the same as shaun ashmore had, and den evans, then just make a pair of spacers out of an old pair of pads.;)

duncan 12-06-2006 19:13

excellent. thanks lads:D
