Fibre glass wing Makers !
Well I have been thinking about these lately as there are just none available. I've found this place in retro cars but they replied stating they want to see a pair of wings before the give a price. What do you reckon ???

at least they are uk based, would be great to have a set of non rustable front wings. no point them copying mine, as they would be half price as i have only half the wing that hasnt rusted away :D
|
thats a great start all we need know is for someone to send them a wing and get a quote at the end of the day we have nothing to loose but everything to gain as im sure all s12oc will by a pair or two so atlest the discount will be instant just on the sheer volume nice one mate
|
Yes the guy PM'd me and asked for a pair of wings to take dimentions and to generally look at to see how much work is involved. He will then give us a price but I'm sure they will give a discount on club multiples. Only question is, whos got a decent pair off the car to send them ???

I've got a driver-side wing with some pretty bad rust available..

Dan keep it as it does not look to bad and will be easily repaired. If you get any more let me know
|
What are you after mk1 or mk2? I think it was decided on thread a while back somewhere....
I have a feeling it was mk1 |
yeah i think the majority was mk1 on the other thread.
mk1 would poss be best to copy, as mk2 has holes in for the flashing, but then again we could just fill them in. so not really much diff tbh. |
Whos near Worcester then ???
Right whos is near Worcester WR3 that could pop down in their Silvia and get this firm to look at the wings to get a price ? It seems there is loads of us who would buy them as they are getting scarce !!! Come on you know you want to !!! :furious

You can count me in on a set of front wings. I need them for a car I ve not long aquired for restoring. The only bodywork problem is apart from faided paint, guess what, the front wings.
Has any one tried to get these new. I replaced my front wings when I resprayed my main S12 6 yrs ago. They where Gen Nissan at aroung £120 or so then. Boy do I regret that, as my orridinals were repairable & better quality. Just a suggestion. If they are still available new then couldn't we buy a set to give to this company as a templete. Expensive way of doing it I know, but in the long run it might work out cheeper for all. Daz |
No longer available from Nissan. Its got something to do with Renault now owning around 30% and they have since been making subtle chances

Wing manufacture
Hi Guys,
I might be on to something with the wing thing...I bought a pair of MK3 escort wings and cut the arch off - If fits almost exactly in place of the S12 arch and is being welded up at present. I have taken some pics and will post them shortly. The good thing about this is that it gives a slightly wider front arch. I am still looking for a car with a similar arch profile for the rear...any ideas? As for Smith and Deacon avoid them as I bought fibreglass arches a couple of years ago for a MK1 RS2000 and the were nothing like the originals and didnt fit....? http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...6/silviart.jpg |
*bump*

would it be worth all putting a bit in (who wants wings) towards these wings - http://www.nissansilvia.co.uk/vbb/showthread.php?t=1312 that are in the for sale section?
i'd be up for that Rob |
i could get good ones made, i've seen his work on some of my brother in laws off road race vehicle.
|
I'd be up for this i think as I like saveing weight where possible! No idea what condition my wings are in tho :o
What's the difference between MKI and MKII's? |
The weight of the wings is very light anyway. You'd be lucky to shave off more than a kilo.

They rust because their so thin in the first place. I doubt they could get any thinner.
|
sounds like a very good idea to me. i would be very interested in buying a set as well. so i'll keep an eye on this thread for a price. does anyone know roughly how much they might cost??
