what colour?
hi there! i'm gonna have a go at spraying my car myself with halfors rattle cans:eek: which do you reckon would look coolest. a nice two tone black lower and white upper ( would look like a streched out ae86 if you squint and are drunk!) or just rock hard matt black? i'm fairly confident i can get a good finish with both.:D:rolleyes:
cheers y'all |
I did my V8 with rattle cans. Looked alright, bit of Monet!! Didn't really take my time with it tho!! I vote for the black finish, after seeing that two tone one in brighton I don't think it suits!

i'm hoping to get mine sprayed at some point soon as well:) mines already white, and all the tatty bits were under half way up, so i was just gonna do the ae black/white style, but my mate reckons we might as well just spray the whole thing, so i was thinking about gloss black??

Depends how fussed you are about the finish you will get coz as you probably know spray cans are not the way for a glossy new look, it will be flat and bitty no matter how much time you spend moping and cutting, unless you have an oven etc that yoru going to paint it in?
|
yeah i won't be using cans if i can avoid it;) i used to have a matt black mk2 starlet and don't really fancy it again:o
i might be able to get it done free + the cost of paint, etc for putting a graphic down the side of my car by a local spray shop.....bar that tho and my mate works at a different sprayers so will be able to do most of it after hours:D |
The only paint in my experience you can get away using cans with is matt black, unless as i say you prepare it properly and spary it in the right conditions, still your never get the finish that you would with a proper booth and gun etc

Matt blacks been done sooooo many times on s12s now that i think its been overdone and looks :ghey .You cant wash matt black very easily and you will find you are left with shitty water marks over it most of the time even if you use a shammy.
Save up for proper paint or buy a better condition s12, there not much money :) And as Adz said Rattle cans dont come out well unless its matt PS nice Mg Jackiefan.I like that |

The paint job was fine for a £50 hammerite attack but the guys are right, it didn't look good up close (Hence the Monet reference!). At the end of the day you need to think what you want. A cheep paint job that looks alright from 30 feet or something that is a bit more showy! :) |
cool. i know i wont get a shiny finish with rattle cans but at the moment i have streaky matt black bonnet cos it was too hot when i sprayed it and the remaining red is actually matt pink with black overspray unless i spend 2 hours with colour polish after every wash.:furious i would get it done properly but if i had the cash for that then i wouldn't be driving a £170 car:D wont go and spray it on a whim though cos even though i'm not after a showy finish i still want it to look ok close up. cheers for your inputs though, great help.:nod

Well good luck mate and let us know how it turns out;)
