DET rev counter prob fix (theory)

can the rev counter on the s12 pick up the signal from one coil pack??? having looked inside my rev counter last night, i see a potentiometer same as what used to be on fords, this was used to change the sensitivity, depending on if it was used on 4 cyl or 6 cyl, so im guessing that you might be able to tune it to 2 cyl, or poss even 1 cyl pending on the spark freq on the det coil.

Yes but it will show 1/4 speed, so you need to bridge the signals from all 4 coilpacks and use diodes to avoid interference. Thats my theory, not been tried though.

yeah.

but if you alter that potentiometer inside the rev counter, you may get it to read it with higher sensitivity, and may work. obviously i dont have a DET to test on, but worth a try to others that have. like i say its used for changing between 4 and 6 cyl engines, but im sure it goes low enuf for it to read 1cyl engines

Theres a signal straight off the s13 ecu for the s13 rpm counter. It works fine on my aftermarket rpm counter but i recon it just doesnt have enough power to move the s12 one lol.

if you could get hold of a DET set of clocks you might be able to swap the bit on the back over. It might have an additional power feed on the DET?

i got my det to run with my rev counter, all you have to do is run 4 diodes, one off every coil and then join them all together and wire into the one wire for your rev counter and the diodes only costed about a pound from maplins.

cheep and easy fix :D

yea you can will have to have a look and find the specs of the ones i got for you
