a basic cage will strengthen the shell massively, the diagonals can be designed as 'bolt ins' for track work. we have just had some scimitar cages designed and built by Performance and Protection in Skipton, and they have been designed so that they are modular. If someone just wants an MSA legal half cage (roll hoop and rear backstays) then they can and can add the front hoop and roof bars at a later stage (still fits with std interior) and then the door bars can be bolted in or taken out in about 4 mins per side.
If you speak to them, ask for Dan Evans, hes a top bloke and very helpful too. They have the coolest CNC tube bender you will ever see too:cool:

cheers craig, what sort of price can i expect to pay.i will eventually will be drag racing it, so i'll have to buy i van to toe it with, i think i'll have to do a couple of lsd set ups, for when i twist the shafts, then i can just swapp over at the event.:)

we had three made, 600+vat each (that was for full 6 point cage inc door bars and roof diagonals and extra diagonals to take harness mountings, all powder coated), but i suspect theres a bigger market for S12 cages than scim ones, so may be less. I think they did Bren from Apexs S14 too. may be worth getting a group buy thing going as more than a couple makes a big difference to the price.
Sounds like its gonna be a beast mate!
