Our bad luck at the weekend :(
 

I borrowed my mates Rover (which was for sale) to go up north on Thursday, thinking it'd be cheaper than going in my van and as he wasn't using it, it was ideal.

I went out with my gf on Friday night and parked the car up along a road with marked out pay & display bays. Seemed a nice enough area and it was somewhere I'd have been happy to leave my own vehicles.

Came back to it afterwards only to find it without two wing mirrors and had had the roof jumped up and down on :(

According to a fisherman they jumped up on the one mirror, used the roof like a trampoline and jumped down on the other mirror.

I took it to my friendly bodyshop this morning and they removed the majority of the crater out of the roof but it's still rippled. Obviously I can't hand it back to my mate as it is now so looks like I'm going to have to fork out and buy the car off him. As well as pay for the repairs.

Bigger Oops - I didn't insure it :(

So all in all, I'm f*cked. Silvias going to go into the garage in storage and I'll be driving around in a diesel rover like a granny. On the good side, it did 220 miles on £10 of fuel! lol.

Unless I can sell my landrover to fund this, it might mean I can't afford to go to JAE. So let's hope there's a market for Landrovers :(

How much is your excess? Can you not just sell the thing back on as is and accept the loss? I.e. is the amount the value has been decreased buy more or less than you would have had to pay in excess?.... come to think of it if the value of the car is less than your excess would be give your mate the money and throw the car in the bin!
