This months Jap Performance mag

Don't know if anyone has seen this months Japanese Performance but it has a Retro Jap supplement and the S12 comes in at 30 out of 50 in their top 50 retro cars.
The trouble is they say the S12 only came with a 1.8 turbo engine and the picture is clearly of a FJ engined car oops:D .

What else is in their list?

i noticed the black fj20 as well and not even a mention of the fj, trouble is they are to busy doing write ups on cars they have already featured, ie: rk, nd, rc, all the tuners, plus cars that half of us can't afford, or if we could, we cun't affords the price of the mods, its like watching top gear, it caters for the upper class, no one gives a fuck about the working class anymore, the young folk buy the mags cos they are just obssest with bhp results, but they don't care that they will never own anything as powerfull, maybe twoc someones, its about time the mags catered for everyone, i must have 6 years of mags, but nothing in them that interests me, evo's, scooby's, skylines.

Well said mate!

While I agree that most mags you can guarantee when you open them you will findn an Evo, an Impreza and a Skyline and the odd FD, there are cheap Imprezas and Evos out there and even cheap non GTR Skylines but generally these are driven by chavs, but alas the cars the general public want to see. As for Top Gear I'll have to disagree as while years ago TG was a consumer programme now it's just pure entertainment we all tune in to watch the race the likes of the Bugatti Veyron across Europe or make a car into a boat and sail it across the channel etc.
As for the other cars in the top 50 there were 510 and 610 Bluebird SSS, 240Z and 280Z but no 260Z which I would of had instead of the 280Z. Silvia CSP311 and Silvia S10, Nissan Fairlady, Honda Prelude why? Mazda RX 2, 3 ,4 and 7, Mazda Luce R180, various Celica's, Toyota S800 and Honda S800 Mitsubishi Celeste, Isuzu 117, 1966 Skyline GT-R as well as Skyline C110/240K and C210 to name but a few.

I think it's a sign of the times, speaking from a motorsports point of view people would rather watch something flashy on TV rather than have a go at it at grassroots level.

Who needs magazines when you have forums?? :D

s13eater 21-09-2007 08:16

you don't actually think that the races across europe they have are real do you ? lol, so when they record it they have hundreds of camera men sat at the side of the road filming and when clarkson races may and the hamster, to a certain destinarion, they arrive within minutes of each other, what a coincidence:D , i admit top gear is entertaining, but very far fetched.;)

30psi 21-09-2007 09:15

Top Gear is bollocks really. Agree with Shaun, its far fetched and also rehearsed.

What its led to is some people who have watched it over the last few years thinking they now know about cars. People at work would come up to me and ask me what I think of the new Z06, and then say its a shame its has leaf springs on the rear. Its then clear that they don't know what they're talking about because although they're leaf springs its still an independant rear end, and has been independant on the corvette since the dawn of time. Its just a different type of spring for fek sake.

The show has led to a new breed of people who think they are into cars. When really they know just as little as Clarkson. Clarkson actually knows shit all about cars in reality.
