Silvia roadholding problem

Hello, After getting my engine running better i'm now looking at improving the suspension. My car seems very twitchy on the back end when pulling out to overtake... feels like the change of road camber unsettles the back end making the rear wheels hop about which don't inspire much confidence.
I was thinking of fitting some uprated rear shocks and changing the anti-roll bar bushes but would appreciate some thoughts or any other recomendations before laying out my hard earned.

sounds like your rear shockers need replacing

KYB do replacement Gas rear shocks. you can up-rate the fronts by replacing the fluid with a higher viscosity fluid (EG transmission fluid)

You possibly may need to replace your rear subframe bushes

Thanks for the suggestions :) . I think I will try replacing the shocks first as I replaced the subframe bushes a few years ago for the mot.
Looking on the kyb website they only seem to list rear shocks for the S13 so do these also fit S12 ?. How much ATF fluid do i need to put in the front shock tubes ? cheers

i got my shocks from DP motor-sport in warington.
with the fronts you need to measure how much fluid comes out and replace the the same amount, (as long as your shocks haven't been leaking)

The service manual goes into the exact amount of fluid required.

I`ve just checked my s12 manual for you.
It says 9.9 imperial fluid ounces, hope that helps. :D

Ian.

Lol I'd guess 9.9 fluid ounces being about 281cc

lmrdave 01-10-2007 11:10

About half a pint (0.495) mmm beer :D

Thanks for the translations :p ...LOL...
I didn`t have a clue what a fluid ounce was ;) .
Regards,
Ian.
