flooded turbo.

Ive just fitted a recon turbo on my silvia, its the standard T2, i also fitted a braided oil line, now after a 30 min run the engine stuck revving at 3k, and spat oil out all over the turbo, the line isnt split and the feed is bolted in correct, now im totally confused as i cant even find where its comming from. but its still doing it, ive had the turbo off 3 or 4 times working on this car, and its getting a bit of a pain, also after the drive both manifold and downpipe were glowing red, is this normal? i have an evo 6 as my weekend bag of fun and ive never seen this befour on a turbo'd car.
Thanks.
Also i dont suspose anyone is near hastings east sussex to come over and have a looky.:D

when you say you used a braided line, did you use the S13 block adapter elbow ??? as otherwise the line will be kinked and possibly restricted!. It maybe also the rubber return pipe into the sump thats holed or not tightened

spat oil out all over the turbo?

1)check all your pipework for alot of oil in the pipes including the afm intake.

It can only be the following

Turbo front seal leaking in the compressor housing and then leaking out over the bearing housing

or

Excessive engine breathing via the rocker cover breather into the afm intake pipe

Braided oil line leaking from a split in the hose or from a leak in the fittings.
try ptfe tape in the oil line fittings.

or

If you did not clean all the pipework out after your last turbo failed it could be left over from that.

The Idle speed could just need adjusting as it may of been turned up to compensate for intake restrictions in the past, ie possibly a stiff turbo bearing or blocked up pipes if they had been before.... But check all your intake pipe clips are air tight.

Is it smoking from the exhaust on boost or idle?

i had the same problem years ago with a new t2 i'd bought, i fitted it and it poor oil out everywhere, same as jon said, i think it maybe your front seal.

No holes or splits in any of the pipes, braided line fine, not kinked, turbo return is fine not blocked, no oil in intake, the 3k revving is a sticky throttle bodie, its defo a f**ked turbo, so i need one pretty sharpish, really wana do the t25 upgrade, can anyone help with the bits as i hate seeing her stuck on the drive!:furious

EDIT; she doesnt smoke from exhaust, but the oil burns off on the turbo so its hard to tell if the turbos actually smoking itself.

if your ignition timing is too far out it can make the manifold glow red! could be overheating your seal and the hot thin oil will pass through easier! (i think:rolleyes: )

It was the turbo seal in the end, now fixed and re-fitted, pipes cleaned out, all fine and dandy, thanks for your help guys.:D
