high emissions

my car is currently running at 7% and the maximum is 3.5% i have tried running it on my emissions machine and turning the screw on the mass air flo meter but no change at all any ideas how to drop it down to 2% also starting to smoke on and when you drive it yo can smell that it's running very rich what would the smoke on idle be either turbo or valve seals. does not smoke when driving just on idle

smoke is probably rear turbo seal if its defo oil.

Emissions could quite possibly be a boost leak if you have any lash ups on your intercooler conversion. If not it could be the fuel pressure regulator

cant say that i have noticed a boost leak i still cant understand why the mass air flow meter screw is not changing the emissions at all doesnt make sense. i agree with you bout turbo seal i can put up with it at the mo cant be arsed to take the turbo off for the second time it is suck a cucking funt to do lol

sometimes you will need to unplug the water temp sensor and bridge the connectors with a resistor to make it change (as discribed in the manual);)

I think its the Fuel pressure Reg which would effect the Emissions

umpkin 15-03-2008 08:34

when my fuel pressue reg went t!ts up, that made the co go off the scale at 10% and couldnt be adjusted on the AFM as it was to far for it to right. i would deffo look towards the AFM.

do you have a pressure gauge you could try in the fuel line going into the fuel rail, should be bout 36psi (2.5bar), when mine went wrong this was about 60psi.

also the water temp sensor on the inlet manifold tells the ECU when the engine is warm enuf to turn off cold start over fuel, if this is faulty that would also cause 7% CO

do you have any starting problem when its warm??? my was a bugger to start hot when the fuel reg was fubber.

s13eater 15-03-2008 11:44

yeah, thats a point, my fpr, went up to 60psi as well, i had to rev the tits off of it to get home, but i think it fecked my injectors up as well, so i changed the lot and its to lean on tickover now, probly cos i kept weakening the afm first.

kylepiggy 15-03-2008 13:15

it is a mother to start when it's cold have to pump the throttle just to start it will get a fuel pressure gauge on it and try it

umpkin 15-03-2008 22:24

i found mine started like a dream when cold, was an absolute fooker when hot.
