Removing the diff
Can someone just remind me how to remove my diff without dropping the rear axle?
I need to pop a manual diff back in rather than the auto one but not sure how to remove the diff as when I fitted the current one I had the entire rear axle in my workshop lol |
i just unbolted the outer cv joints from the shaft and levered one of them up so i could slide it all across and drop one side down!
i did have a 2 post ramp to do it on though which made life alot easier:D |
So unbolt the drive shafts at the wheel end, then pop them off at the diff end, undo diff mounting bolts and wiggle it all out?
That about right? |
i unbolted them at wheel end but left the shafts in the diff and dropped it all out together! was a bit tight though
|
There's a big bracket in the way on each arm. You have to be a man and squeeze the shafts in tight to clear it. Or you can be a woofter and remove the bracket, which seems to bolt to the bottom of the shock if i remember correctly.

No, having a big dick makes you a man. I'm a hell of a man :1la
As for the diff, tomorrow will tell. I'll make a how to afterwards. I have a bad back tho so won't be overly easy anyway grrr! |
