metal head gasket fitments....

Hi guys, i was just wondering if a metal head gasket for a 200sx with the CA18DET would fit a silvia (s12) with the CA18ET engine, as far as i know the blocks are the same just the heads are different but wanted to check to be sure before i fork out for a metal gasket.....

Cheers Ben

Yes I think someone on hear uses one. You may have to open up one of the water galleries to match the one you take off tho

turbomike had one for his ca18et,cnhss1 uses one as well i think, i think theres just a little mod you have to do, nothing big, i used std gasket as SE nissan had mig wired the block, this held together @ 32psi on the t34

when you say mig wired the block...? Im thinking of running quite a bit of boost, what is a realistic safe limit on standard internals/head gasket? cheapest metal gasket i have found is £100 so wanna get as much info as i can before spending too much!

On ebay there is a cometic head gasket for ca18et. I use one and no fabrications are needed.

see pic of modified DET cometic to fit ET. this is actually the one Cweeks bought from TurboMike. it shows the extra two water way holes that need to be cut
my engine uses MIG wire block and std nissan HG too, i have lower comp forged pistons rather than thicker head gasket

cometic head gaskets are best around for price and i havent heard of anyone having one gone on them yet:)

theres a few threads on sxoc (search for Stewb) regarding weeping between the layers, either water or oil, due to the 'open' layer design compared to much more expensive jap MHGs, but doesnt seem to stop them working well to be fair.

I have a cometic in mine and have no probs with it at all stands the abuse well and no signs of any probs with it.
