CA18ET vs. CA18DET bottom ends

As title, just wondering if there are any known major differences between the DET and ET bottom ends? My s12 just decided to have a hissy fit and dropped a cylinder...after removal of the head due to suspected head gasket found a bit missing form one of the pistons and the rings on that cylinder are shot. I am of the belief that if you break it replace it with uprated, eventually you will get a massively improved engine/car etc.

Been looking about but cant find any forged options for the ET and was wondering if the DET setup would fit without issue.

if anyone has done this before or indeed knows of a supplier for forged ET pistons, rods and possible crank then i would be really grateful of any help rendered.

cheers

Ben

Yes they will fit. Obviously you need to get the cylinders rebored 1mm oversize as you would with the det.

You may as well fit the pistons with DET conrods while you are at it.

may as well fit a DET engine....

i run DET forged pistons and Pauter steel DET rods in an ET engine, along with Autosprint cam.
DET is easy power i guess (if you can find one that isnt shagged), but 8v i still worth a look in my opinion

Im with you all the way, 8v is my personal choice as i have made too many bits to warrant going for a DET conversion. Plus i have a spare 8v engine to bolt in if things go completely tits up! bought some forged pistons now, awaiting delivery so block can be bored to suit!
