got a headlight out on dip - expensive?
 

Hi folks. I noticed tonight that my drivers side headlight is not working when on dip, but fine on main beam. Is this just likely to be a bulb that is somethign that is cheap to replace, or do you have to change the whole unit, which sounds expensive? How much should I expect to have to pay to get this fixed? or buy the parts and do it myslef. I have the workshop manual, but not had chance to read it yet, and this pc is too old to view it this week!

Yes mate all odds are on the bulb in the first place, regular combined type, but you have to take the headlamp covers off first... its in the BF section;)

This is by far the easiest way to do it and takes 5mins.:)

1)Take sidelight out 2/3 screws depends on little or big sidelights,this allows you to pull the grill out a bit if needed.

2)4 screws that hold the black plastic surround on around the light unit,give it a wiggle about to get it off as it wedges under lid at top(it can catch on grill or sidelight as well)See no1

3)4 bolt screws that hold the top lid on.

You can now get to the bulb holder at the back of light:)

If the black side cover catches on the lid why dont you take the lid off first:rolleyes:

cos the lid bolts are under it;)

To see if its a bulb check if they work on sidelight. The sidelights work by running the bulbs in series as opposed to parallel to get the reduced voltage.

Therefore if they don't work at all on sidelight then its defo a bulb.
