Headlamp Relay

Is the black relay mounted on the airbox mount the relay for th headlamps as my headlamps work on sidelights and main beam only and when they are on dipped beam this relay makes a loud clicking soud that can be heard inside the carwhilst driving.
Any help appreciated.

i think there are 2 black relays there, i think (dont quote) they are for left and right switching from dip to main.

Your thinking of the front of the airbox mount I'm looking at the rear where it mounts onto the suspension turret.
Thanks any way.

i have this problem on my s12 , check my ebay sale for the g reg s12 . an auto electrician traced this problem back to the headlight arm / stalk or whatever you want to call it , bad connections . the reason the relay clicks is because ther isn't enough power going through it to click it into place . i aint no sparkie mind you but thats what i was told so i assume it to be right . my lights work on sidelight and main beam , but very very dull on dip and the relay clicks , sometimes though this changes to one light working on dip and the other going out completely:confused:

ive checked on silviagods website and he mentions that it was a common problem on later models he suggests that you change the stalk first before checking the wiring hope this helps

i had posted this on all other threads, always look stalk first, i assumed he had done a search before posting, sorry.

if you know someone see if you can test swap the light switch first.

I've already checked the switch and got good contacts for dipped beam, so any other Ideas?

umpkin 30-07-2006 20:29

bulbs, fuses.

but i would still try a stalk anyway just in case, mainly to put your mind at ease.

Bulbs and fuses are all ok, all the stalk does is control which switches are on via a cam, these are all working ok with good contacts.
