just to reply about not being legal with a failed car on the road. im not triying to teach people to suck eggs i am an MOT tester. MOT laws state that you are covered to drive a defective vehicle (car that has failed mot) on the road providing that you are driving from or to place of repair or back to the mot test station where it was done as long as you have insurance you do not need a valid mot or tax.
a very helpful tip as this is law if you was going to pick up a car that is a distance away from your house that does not have tax or mot just book it in at you local MOT station as long as your insured on the car if the police pull you over you can state that you have picked the car up and are taking it for an mot they might be a bit miffed that you are driving quite a way ie 200 miles for instance but there is nothing they can do as you have insurance and are booked in for an mot lol the law is great
