I have said before that the water lines on a t25/8 are not essential but i have seen you do track days which is very stressfull for any car so really you should fit them ,

if your on increased boost on a t2 its going to run extremely hot and your performance and turbo life will suffer.

The water lines are partly there to reduce heat transfer from the exhaust housing to the compressor housing

They also aim to reduce the temperature of the oil circulating the turbo so that it lubricates more efficiently
