The point is that paying for this forum software isnt required, and the benefits don't justify the cost.
Perhaps you didnt notice what I was pointing out about the HH site because you had not noticed the absence of spam, on the board or via PM. It is a good example of a well maintained and more popular site, proving that the free software can be more secure than the premium paid crap we're using, which in case you didn't know is built on open source software itself.
As for hosting, thats what contracts are for. as long as the terms are right then you go with the lowest bidder.
Problems arose when the person handling the money said they needed too much than what would be reasonable for a community this size on a SHARED server. Kimble rented a dedicated machine them lumped as many clients website as he could onto it saying to each that it was dedicated, with the club footing almost all of the bill.
Guess the best thing to do to get the ball rolling is send any membership renewals to Jon directly, then we can atleast regain some degree of justification for our membership fees
