Rite. Tried the hardwire, no difference. So took the pump assembly out and discovered what I think is causing the problem. Basicaly the pump filter gauze is possitioned differently on the Walbro than it is on the standard pump, the standard pump has a flat gauze where as the Walbro has a longer gauze angled at about a 45degree downward angle. Im guessing the s14a's had a deeper tank. So when I took the assembly out of the tank it was immediatley aparent that the gauze filter had been pinched at an angle beause it was hitting the bottom of the tank. So what I thinks happening is that the pump is sucking the fuel through the filter which because of the pinch is causing it so be sucked completley flat, blocking the flow into the pump, which in turn causes the engine to slow, which again in turn slows the pump allowing the pinch to relax a bit then the pump starts sucking harder and the whole process begins again.
So to cut a long story short the pump is no good for my car. Shame. Never mind.....anyone looking for a Walbro 255 for an S14a? :P
