OK bottom half of the gasket nearest the bulkhead blew out and caused a massive tractor like bang at 130mph!!!!
I might add that the doctor was driving the car at the time lol
We went to the seafront at brighton and all was going well,i offered a drive of my car to the dr_silvia, he was steadily cruising on the carriageway on the way home at 80mph when i told him to boot it.
So at 130 we heard a mettalic like tin noise then bang
I got greedy earlier in the day and turned the boost up some more
think i over cooked it by a turn as we are pretty sure this was det.
Pulled into a layby and the turbo and manifold was pretty much glowing white
and spitting flames out the bottom corner of the blown gasket.
I dont know 100% if the det etc caused the gasket to blow out or not but no doubt the turbo and manifold will be coming off again tomorow aswell as inspecting the plugs etc
Just what the doctor ordered
